THE week passed.
The highlight of her days was when Jamie would stop by, accompanied by a few others. Lucas, Adi, Elena, Alex and Min all showed up with him, depending on the day, which meant they were all skipping school to come see her.
And she got to exchange a few notes—that little bit of communication was the best thing ever. She would’ve gone crazy otherwise, sitting in her small, dark, dusty room. She’d begun sneezing constantly because the twins didn’t let her clean it.
The twins…literally all she could say was that they weren’t letting her die. They were giving her the bare minimum when it came to food and water. Avery was nearly a hundred percent sure that they’d Googled how long can a person survive without water, because they were giving her as little as they possibly could.
