“Is something wrong Philo?”
“No.”
“Are you sure? You haven’t said a word to me this whole time.”
“I’m fine, I promise.”
“Is it because of what I made Eros see?”
“Yes.”
“Philo, you can’t be afraid of Khaos- “
“Please stop saying his name.”
“Sorry. You can’t be afraid of nothing.”
“I am though.”
“He is just that, nothing. You can’t fear him. He feeds off of it.”
“Well, what am I supposed to do, Mania?”
Mania stood there, unable to say anything. She could understand why her friend was scared but she couldn’t let her carry on being this way. Khaos was dangerous, no doubt about it, but he was also very banished. And there was no way he could come near Earth or the heavens.
“You want a cupcake?”
“What are those again?”
Mania smiled at her friend as she answered her.
“They are those small cakes with sweet, soft stuff on top. Very colourful.”
Philotes smiled at her friend and agreed to go get a cupcake before they went home, after all, she really did enjoy cupcakes. They could never enjoy anything like that before they went into the real world. They were protected so much; they couldn’t even enjoy simple desserts. But now they had full access to anything and everything, especially cupcakes.
“oh my goodness, these are so good.”
Mania smiled at her friend.
“So good you forget what they’re called?”
“Well, I doubt I will be making that mistake again.”
“I doubt it too. They are too good.”
“Mania?”
Mania didn’t answer but instead looked up at Philotes to see her staring at her with a very serious expression drawn all over her face.
“Yes?” Mania finally said with caution. She knew what was coming next.
“You can’t be using your powers like that. Imagine what you can do to a human.”
“Why else were we blessed with these powers? For fun? I highly doubt it.”
“Mania, I am not saying don’t use your powers, all I am saying is don’t a***e them. Which you did today.”
“Eros had it coming, Philo.”
“Not like that and you know it. To make him see The Nothing, that is t*****e. No God or Goddess deserves to be frightened like that.”
“I know a lot of Gods and Goddesses that deserve to be frightened like that.” She said while giggling.
With having said that, Mania picked up her things and left the coffee shop they were at. She regretted leaving her cupcake but she was too focused on Khoas to eat anything. But she wasn’t going to let him stop her from living her life, after all Gods and Goddesses die off too. Not as fast as humans. They live for thousands of years, but she wants to make the best out of her life. And no one will stop her.
“Wait.”
“Mania, please.”
Mania stopped and looked around. It was Philotes. She stopped right by Mania, struggling to catch her breath.
Manias face suddenly dropped and she fell to the floor.
You think I don’t see, but I see all. The prophecy of good and evil will haunt you my child. You will soon be returning to me. Your soul will lie with me forever.
“Mania?”
“Mania?”
Mania looked up slowly at Philotes.
“Are you okay?” Philotes said with panic in her voice.
“Yes, I just heard- “
“Oh my, heard what?”
“Voices. In my head. Is that normal?”
“You think because we aren’t humans that hearing voices is normal?”
Mania sat there in silence, looking at her best friend.
“What did you hear, Mania?”
“Nothing, it was nothing.”
“It doesn’t look like nothing. You’re shaking and you are really pale.”
“Let’s just go home, please”
“Sure.”
Mania and Philotes walked the rest of the way home in silence. Once they got back Mania went straight to her room and shut the door.
Mother, I am in need of you now.
Every God and Goddess had only one way of communicating with their parents, and they were only to use this method if they felt it completely necessary.
Mother, please, I need you
