Chapter 13: Not All Mirrors Reflect

206 Words
Tritvika watched herself cry in the mirror. But the reflection didn’t match. Her eyes were dry. Still. Unblinking. She raised her right hand. The reflection raised its left. She turned. The reflection didn’t. That’s when she realized: It wasn’t a reflection. It was someone else. Someone wearing her skin like a borrowed dress. Back in the chamber, the mirror had shifted. It no longer showed the present. It showed memories. Except not all of them belonged to her. One was Avyaan’s — him receiving the USB. Another was Kiara’s — her discovering the floorboard. And one… One was impossible. It showed Tritvika at age seven. Inside the Jindal estate. Holding the same blood-stained diary. Her voice echoed in the room: “They told me the girl in the mirror isn’t real.” “But what if she thinks the same about me?” In the final mirror panel, something new had appeared. Not a reflection. A countdown. 00:03:22:14 Three days. Twenty-two hours. Fourteen minutes. A small inscription beneath it read: “That’s when she takes over for good.” Tritvika didn’t know what scared her more: That something was coming… Or that it was already inside her. Watching. Waiting. And worse of all... Keeping score.
