I grab a couple of the cucumbers and walk towards the school. As soon as I can't see the house anymore, I run to the cemetery. I haven't seen my mom in too long.
I clean her stone. Then eat while I tell her everything I can think of about my new life.
Brock texts. - First period is over in 10 minutes, and you're not here yet. Where the hell are you? -
- On my way. Thanks. - I shove the phone back in my bag and run for it. I didn't realize I was here that long.
I get out of the cemetery and turn onto the main road of the town. I hear a car slam on the breaks. Armen watches me out the window. "What the hell are you doing now?"
"I WAS TALKING TO MY MOM."
Dante opens the side door of the van. "Get in."
I jump in. "Good idea. I didn't realize I was this late."
