The next evening, Isabella stood outside her apartment, waiting.
A familiar black Rolls-Royce pulled up.
Daniel stepped out with a smile.
“Good evening, Miss Carter.”
“Good evening.”
He opened the door for her.
“Mr. Kingston is waiting.”
A few minutes later, they arrived at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city.
Alexander was already there.
As soon as he saw Isabella, he stood up.
“You look beautiful.”
She smiled shyly.
“Thank you.”
“And you look very handsome.”
Alexander laughed.
“I’ll take that as a compliment.”
They sat down and ordered dinner.
For the first time, they talked without worrying about work or reporters.
“So,” Alexander asked, “what do you do when you have a day off?”
“I usually stay home with my family. Sometimes my brother convinces me to watch movies with him.”
Alexander smiled.
“I haven’t had a proper day off in years.”
“That’s not healthy.”
“I know.”
“You work too much.”
“And how do you know that?”
She laughed.
“I can tell.”
For the first time in a long while, Alexander felt completely at peace.
Halfway through dinner, the lights suddenly went out.
The restaurant became quiet.
A few seconds later, candles around the rooftop lit up automatically.
The entire place glowed under the soft candlelight.
The guests applauded.
“It’s beautiful,” Isabella whispered.
Alexander looked at her instead of the lights.
“Yes… it is.”
She noticed him staring and quickly looked away, blushing.
Just then, Alexander’s phone rang.
Daniel.
“Sir, we’ve found the person who leaked the company files.”
Alexander’s expression changed.
“I’m on my way.”
He ended the call and looked at Isabella.
“I’m really sorry. Something urgent has come up.”
She smiled.
“It’s okay. Go.”
“I’ll make this up to you.”
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to.”
Alexander walked her to the car himself.
Before she got in, he gently held her hand.
“I’m glad you came tonight.”
“So am I.”
For a moment, neither of them moved.
Then Alexander slowly let go.
“Goodnight, Isabella.”
“Goodnight.”
As the car drove away, Isabella smiled to herself.
She didn’t realize someone had taken another photo of them holding hands.
The next morning…
The picture was on the front page of every newspaper.

The whole city wanted to know one thing…
