Episode 12: The Confession

456 Words
The lobby fell silent. Everyone looked at Alexander, waiting for his answer. Victoria folded her arms. “Well?” she asked. “You’re falling for her, aren’t you?” Alexander looked at Victoria, then at Isabella. Finally, he spoke. “I don’t owe anyone an explanation.” Victoria laughed bitterly. “You didn’t answer my question.” Alexander’s expression remained calm. “My personal life is my business.” Victoria’s eyes filled with disappointment. “So after all these years… this is how it ends?” “There was never an ‘us,’ Victoria.” Those words hit her like a slap. She looked at Isabella with anger before turning and walking out of the hotel. The reporters outside immediately surrounded her, asking questions, but she ignored them and drove away. Inside, Isabella looked at Alexander. “I’m sorry. This is all happening because of me.” He shook his head. “No, Isabella. This is happening because people enjoy creating stories.” She sighed. “I don’t want to ruin your reputation.” Alexander smiled gently. “My reputation can take care of itself.” Daniel walked over. “Sir, the reporters are refusing to leave.” Alexander thought for a moment. “Then let’s give them something.” He turned to Isabella. “Will you trust me?” She looked into his eyes and nodded. “Yes.” Together, they walked out of the hotel. The reporters rushed toward them. “Mr. Kingston!” “Miss Carter!” “Are you two dating?” “How did you meet?” Alexander raised his hand, and the crowd became quiet. “Miss Carter is a kind and hardworking woman. She deserves respect, not rumors.” The reporters quickly wrote down every word. “As for the rest…” Alexander continued, “…my private life will remain private.” With that, he gently opened the car door for Isabella. She got inside, still surprised by everything that had happened. As the car drove away, she turned to him. “You really didn’t have to do that.” “I wanted to.” She smiled. “Thank you.” Alexander looked at her for a moment. “I’m starting to realize something.” “What?” “I enjoy being around you more than I expected.” Isabella’s heart skipped a beat. Before she could respond, Daniel’s phone rang. His face turned serious. “Sir…” “What is it?” “We’ve just received information that someone has been investigating Miss Carter’s family.” Alexander’s smile disappeared. “Who?” Daniel swallowed. “We don’t know yet.” Alexander looked out the window. Whoever was behind this… Had just made things personal. End of Episode 12
