Chapter 12: Scent on the Collar

Scarlet asks, "What's the matter?" Hades reached out and grabbed the tie, yanking it to the side so that the buttons came undone. He sat down and threw his vest onto the chair that was located next to Scalet. He then poured himself a glass of wine using a crystal glass that he had taken for himself. Because of the rapid increase in the volume of wine that was pouring into his glass, he was unable to properly appreciate the wine's authentic flavor. Scarlet did not challenge the actions that Hades had taken; rather, she sluggishly reclined and continued to close her eyes. Scarlet's disposition remained consistently uplifted as long as the reverberation of the music from the obsolete music player persisted in her mind. After giving Scarlet a glance over, Hades lifted his head and finished off the wine in his glass. Hades asked Scarlet a question with a chilly tone that carried the slight impression of anger. “Who did you and my mother meet today?” Scarlet calmly responded, maintaining her expression throughout. "Since you already know the answer, why are you still trying to ask me?" Hades, I ask that you place the wine glass on the table. The sharp impact of crystal on the table caused Scarlet's long, tightly curled eyelashes to move slightly in response to the noise. But her stunning eyes remained completely closed the entire time. Hades became irritated and yelled at the other person, "You know that's the woman I love, why do you deliberately want to make it difficult for her?" Scarlet admonished her friend, saying, "Don't make silly jokes like that. I had no intention of touching the other little woman you have. It would be best if you could avoid splashing me with that dirty pot of water." Hades: “You don't have to deny it, I went to see her today. Ellie told me the whole story of what happened today. I don't understand why you want to make it so difficult for her. You and I are husband and wife on a contract, we have no relationship at all.” Scarlet sat up straight in a drowsy manner. The lace dress that was draped over her body moved in response to Scarlet's actions. Her flirtatious collarbone was exposed when the straps of her skirt slipped off her shoulders and fell. She sat with her legs crossed, her elbows on her legs, and her hand supporting her chin. The other hand was tinkering with the crystal glass she was holding. Her mouth twisted into a charming smirk as the creases at the corners of her lips gradually turned upward. Scarlet's sassy appearance is really attractive, which adds to the allure of her haughty aura; the entirety of her persona comes together to form a unique identity. "Hades, it is abundantly clear that you comprehend what you are saying; however, you continue to utter these words to enrage me." Hades grimaced. She continued: “You should understand that Ellie and I are not on the same level. Please understand that clearly. Your little lover angered the wrong person, what she got was worth it. I am not an angel, I do not have a gentle and tolerant heart. I can't even protect your little lover on your behalf." After a brief pause, Scarlet focused her attention intently on analyzing Hades's features. The look of annoyance on his face made her laugh even harder. She got to her feet and moved cautiously in his direction. When Scarlet approached Hades, the woman's bare feet stopped when they touched the luxurious fur rug in front of them. Scarlet's hand came in contact with Hades' beard on the chin. When he smiled, the tips of his long, thin fingers lightly brushed the corners of his lips, which were stained with red lipstick. She said this in a mocking tone. "It's funny, now that my husband is angry with his wife because of a petty mistress." Hades turned his head away from Scarlet and avoided making eye contact with her. Since Scalet was in no rush, it was only natural for her to lean into Hades' chest. "Dear husband, you should have a good understanding of your position. You should do everything you can to protect your lover, and avoid making her angry with me. You and I are two people who have personalities and ways of thinking that are comparable; therefore, I suppose you can understand what I am saying." Hades reached out and grabbed Scarlet's chin out of nowhere. His eyes were burning with rage, and he glared at her as the ferocity that was building up in his grip increased. "You dare hurt Ellie? If you dare, I will kill you." Scarlet chuckled to herself. "How dare you? If you have the nerve to hurt me, my family will not hesitate to take your life. Your family is your fortress, just like mine is. I feel the same way about my family. You don't have to threaten me with power and authority because our two clans are on par in terms of their strength." Hades' frustration caused him to release his grip on Scarlet's chin. He understood her words well. Because of his rage, he was unable to control the words that he said to Scarlet. It's just that when he got back from Ellie's place, he wasn't in the best of moods when he got home. Hades was unable to move because of the pain that was caused by Ellie's weakness and tears. It was as if a sharp knife had been piercing his heart. Even for a split second, Hades entertained the idea of ending his relationship with Scarlet to wed Ellie. The warmth of the two people gradually transferred from one to the other. Scarlet thought she detected a trace of a woman's scent on Hades's body. She is not an i***t; she can figure out where the perfume smell is coming from; it must be coming from Ellie. The fleeting aroma slowly engulfed the excitement as it continued to spread. Scarlet slowly pushed herself to her feet to free herself from Hades's body. However, he managed to pull her away from him and coerce Scarlet into sitting on his lap once more. Scarlet still kept a smile on her lips and her face was extremely calm. "Do you have anything else you want to tell me, dear?"
