Chapter 7: Meeting Ellie again

1248 Words
Scarlet and July had a wonderful time shopping at the HJSA mall. The two of them spent a merry four hours shopping together inside the shopping center. The two of them did not stop until the small trailer that they were using was completely stuffed with bags. July was so pleased to see the collection of items that she had chosen on this particular day that she relaxed back in her chair. The waitress brought up two coffee cups and a small tray of cakes to the table for the customer. The sophisticated scent, which was not overly potent, slowly ascended into the air and caressed the very tip of Scarlet and July's noses. This had the immediate effect of improving both their mood and their level of fatigue. Scarlet took great care in selecting a slice of strawberry cake made with fresh strawberries, carefully placing it on a plate, and delivering it to July. "Mom, you really ought to sample this cake. Fresh strawberries are used in the preparation of this slice of cake; the combination of their naturally sweet flavor and moderate acidity will cause your taste buds to go into ecstasy. When I come to this store, this is one of my favorite cakes that they sell." July: "Okay, I'll give it a shot." The mouth is then filled with a piece of cake. The cake, both in terms of its flavor and its consistency, lives up to the praise that Scarlet bestowed upon it. The aroma of strawberries is preserved in its natural state, and the fresh pieces of strawberries maintain their crispness and juiciness. A very flattering texture is produced as a result of the layer of rich, creamy filling that is covered with a layer of soft sponge cake. When you put a piece of cake in your mouth, the cream will immediately begin to melt in your mouth, and July's tongue will immediately be enveloped in a sweet taste. July: “This taste is not bad at all. Very good food.” Scarlet cracked a grin as she mused that she had a feeling July would enjoy the flavor of this cake. Because Scarlet enjoys this flavor very much herself. Scarlet will choose to visit these cafes with the cakes whenever she is in a bad mood or has nothing better to do. It's possible that Scarlet's happiness could be improved by allowing her taste buds to fully experience the juiciness of strawberries. "I like it okay. When both of us have some free time, I will bring you back here to enjoy it even more. July nodded her head and responded, "Of course. I have a lot of spare time, so feel free to message me whenever you get a chance. We split up our shopping between the two of us." They had been talking for quite some time, and it was starting to get dark outside. Scarlet had the impression that her strength had completely left her, and she needed to return home as quickly as possible to rest. Her eyes, which had become heavy, were now trying to convey to Scarlet that they were about to close. “Mom, let's go home. I see that it is getting to be late." July nodded; she concurred that she was feeling a little bit tired and desired to return home. However, since the two of them left the cafe, things have not been proceeding in the normal manner at all. A character referred to as the "fake daughter-in-law" suddenly appeared and caused Scarlet to get coffee all over her body. When Ellie was confronted by July, she was unable to conceal the shock and panic she was feeling. She recoiled in terror, her wide-set eyes betraying the fact that she could not believe July would suddenly materialize in front of her in this form. It appeared as though she was attempting to speak but was unable to do so because her lips were constantly opening and closing. Ellie clenched her hand around her coffee mug and retreated a few more steps. Scarlet was very irritated as she looked up at Ellie after looking down at the coffee stain that was on her chest. Scarlet's disposition began to deteriorate as soon as the two of them locked eyes with one another. She made an effort to keep her composure and conceal Ellie's true identity from July by not letting her feelings show. July's face contorted into a look of sudden rage as she arrogantly and intently surveyed Ellie from head to toe with a penetrating gaze. July was so disgusted and annoyed that she did not attempt to conceal her hostility when she confronted Ellie. Her eyes were filled with both disgust and annoyance. "That's funny," she said with a chuckle, "because I didn't expect you to appear in this place." Ellie was taken aback, but she managed to quickly bow her head and greet July. "I salute you, I'm glad to see you." July: "Oh, I am so afraid to acknowledge your greetings." July smiled very softly and crossed her arms over her chest. The intensity with which her penetrating gaze was fixed on Ellie gave the impression that July was looking straight through Ellie. Ellie could not bring herself to make even the slightest movement; instead, she averted July's gaze by lowering her face and shaking. Ellie found herself drawn back into her recollections of times gone by. When they were together again, she found that she was unable to forget July's cruel eyes and words. Ellie had the impression that she was as puny, ugly, and destitute as a rat, and that she could in no way be compared to someone of the noble class such as July. "Auntie, I'm sorry, but I have to leave first. I'll see you later," said Ellie. Ellie didn't even dare to look July in the eye; instead, she spent the entire conversation with her eyes fixed on the ground. July averted her gaze out of fear. Since she was unable to think clearly at this point, her only concern was finding an exit from this location as soon as possible. But July just couldn't bring herself to let Ellie go so easily. She reached out, grabbed her hand, and pulled it closer to her while laughing. "I cannot believe you are leaving so quickly. You accidentally spilled coffee on my daughter; please make amends and apologize to my daughter as soon as possible." After Ellie let out a painful groan, July yanked her away from the situation with some force. She regarded Scarlet's face with bewilderment before turning her attention back to July. Her pleas to July to let her go were delivered in a feeble voice. "Auntie, I beg your forgiveness... I didn't accomplish anything, did I?" Scarlet is not the type of person who enjoys making life difficult for those around her. However, she does not appreciate it when Ellie splashes coffee all over her and then runs away. First, the perpetrator of the wrongdoing needs to admit that he was wrong and make amends; only then does he deserve forgiveness. "Ellie, you ruined my dress." Ellie looked at Scarlet, jealousy evident in Ellie's eyes. She gave July a sour look before stuttering something to her in a tone that was equal parts bewailing and rebuking. "Why can't you accept me, but you're willing to accept her? What exactly differentiates me from her, when all is said and done?"
