Chapter 17: House building

I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time right now.
Now is the time to go into one.
I mean, real state.
Opposite to the adventurers guild was a building that offers lands and houses. This place is equivalent to a real state in the real world.
I’ve been living for months in this city. I don’t have complaints about renting since I can finish a job quicker than anyone else.
But having your own house is everyone’s dream.
I can’t just rent in one space forever.
I open the door and enter. Inside a lady is sitting on an office desk.
“Good morning, how may I help you?”
“I’m looking for land to buy.”
“A land? Is this for business?”
“Nope, I wanted to build my own house.”
“I understand, this is the perfect timing there is lots of land for sale right now.”
The lady receptionist looks cheered up and gets papers containing information about the lands. I got to look at it and read.
There are many houses and lot for sale in the outskirts and middle areas of the city.
As possible I wanted a place that is silent a cozy.
Observing the city at night.
It's always noisy.
The reason for that is the adventurers going home from their quest. Also, daytime is mostly used in working. Nighttime is the only time where everyone can enjoy.
That’s one of the reasons I don’t like the center city.
Also, the price is very high.
“Sorry is there a place less crowded? I don’t like noise.”
“I understand but most of the place in outskirt is low quality and had the same price as the one in center city.”
Why do they have the same price?
“That’s weird…”
“It's because of the lord of this city… The task was higher than normal. To survive in this economy, sellers usually sell things at a higher price than a normal city.”
That’s bad news.
I should expect thins from a city that allowed child labor. (I’m thinking about Marie.)
If the expenses in this place are high. That means Marie is always in trouble.
Marie worked hard every day. She dismantles monsters and picks up herbs outside of the city for her mother. She’s so diligent, kind, and cute.
I want to marry her…
I thought as I drool.
My mind is so dirty. This is what happened if you became a Shut-in for many years and only think about yourself.
I shook my head to let go of these thoughts and bring myself back looking at the papers in front of me.
“The prices are a bit higher than my savings. Looks like I’m unable to buy anything for now.”
Looking at my sad expression.
The receptionist then make a deep thinking expression and put her finger on her chin.
“There is another one, but it's outside of the city.”
“Really?!”
“It's owned by the lord and sell it at in low price because the house is always targeted by monsters. The house build outside of the city usually met the same end.”
This world is like in the video game I’m playing. The only safe zone is town and city. Outside is where the monster suddenly leaped and attack.
“How much is it?”
“You can have it for 10,000 silver or 10 gold coins. It's very cheap considering owning an entire hill for yourself.”
An entire hill?!
1,000 silvers are equivalent to 1 gold.
I started to have a grasp on how money works in this world.
The offer is reasonable since it's dangerous. But with the power of my Cat maid suit. Maybe, I’m able to defeat those monsters in no time.
I confidently signed the paper and hand over the money to the lady receptionist.
After that I go-ahead to the said hill outside of the city.

“I think it's in this way…”
While I’m walking, I saw a familiar person picking herbs on the bushes.
It's my future wife.
“Marie.”
She flinched and turned her head on me.
“Big sis Nicole, w-what are you doing here?”
“I’m on my way to the land I bought. I’m planning to build a house.”
“Really! That’s amazing.”
“Want to come?”
My wife nods her head excitedly. Now, we’re going to build our love nest.
We reached the hill.
“Looks great I can see the city from here… On the other side were the forest and lakes. No wonder the lord brought this land before.”
“Big sis Nicole, is it really fine to build a house in this place? A monster might attack you at night.”
It's really dangerous for normal people. But for me who has a cheat suit. This is nothing, I feel like some kind of light novel protagonist with overpowered ability.
Sometimes I can’t sleep at night.
I’m a dirty-minded cheater.
For starters, I would like to use some of the skills I have.”
“Summon earth cats!”
I saw and put my hands on the soil.
From the soil, a bump was made. From it, a standing cat was made out of the earth. It is the same height as me (5.2 ft). I made ten of them and control them with magic.
“So cute… I wanted to hug them.”
Marie said and tried to hug one.
But she disappointedly retreated after she felt the solute hard body of the earth cats.
"It's hard."
They are made of soil and I make them hard and sturdy to help me out building my house.
The forest is a resource of trees. Stones and concrete wall is no problem because I can use my earth magic.
Less than an hour has passed.
“It's already done my home sweet home.”
A build a concrete house with woods. It looks like some kind of resort house usually find on beaches. I do like the comfy breeze.
But I need to test the durability of the house before I decide to go inside.
“Tornado!”
“Rockfall!”
“Water balls!”
“Earth magnitude!”
I chanted magic and tried to destroy the house. The house is sturdy and remains standing.
It's durable.
“I can’t believe… That big sis Nicole build this house.”
“Well, I got help from my earth cats. The house is not done yet. We need to place the furniture and tour the rooms.”
Marie's face lightened up.
Same with building the house. Earth cats help us out in placing the furniture.
My infinite inventory was able to contain anything of any size. I pulled the sofa chairs and many things out of them.
Marie was astonished and stand in the corner. Behaving herself.
The work is done as fast as possible.
“Wow~ The place looks so cute.”
“I made a room for your work. You can dismantle as much as you want in that room.”
“Really! Big sis Nicole is the best!”
Marie makes a big smile and hugs me.
Anything for your smile.
Anything for Marie’s smile.
Her smile soothe my heart and put an ease on my dark self.
Marie is my angel.
Before the sunsets. We took a break inside the new build house and eat snacks.
I didn’t know anything much in this world yet. The world is like in the game but the city and map are different. If this is the same game. I can casually venture around since I’m used to it.
But this is different.
“I’m not surprised if I saw a demon lord in this place.”
“Demon lord…”
I speak out of my thought.
Marie’s face was melancholic after she heard me.
“Marie…”
“Big sis Nicole helped me a lot… I don’t want her to pull on my drama.”
“Don’t sweat it I’m always here to listen to you. You’re my hero, the own who saved my life when I’m lost in the forest before.”
“Nope, you’re my hero… If it wasn’t for you… I’m already dead because of the wolves.”
“No matter what’s the reason… I will lend you my ears and listen to your story.”
“...”
After that, Marie told me her story.
Marie’s father died in hands of the demon king and the illness her mother is suffering is a curse made by one of the demon king generals.
Sooner or later, her mother can die anytime.
Before the sunsets. I escorted her back to the city gate. She waved her hand with a smile like always.
Marie is a nice girl.
I go back home afterward.
