LISA
“That’s good for you. I wouldn’t even bother telling you this,” I said. “But I have to, because you’re clearly obsessed with your brother.”
My voice didn’t shake. I made sure of that. I wasn’t going to let her walk all over me and call it a day. Not today.
“Stay away from me. And good luck with your ridiculous search. Just know you’ll never find anything.” I let the threat hang in the air, and she stared at me with pure, undiluted hate.
The kind that made her nose wrinkle like I was trash.
“Oh, and get those papers to the main office,” I added, crossing my arms. “As your superior, you should take my advice and actually listen when I talk. It’s a new concept, I know.” I chuckled, slow and deliberate.
