Ethan Thompson stood beside his office window, gazing out at the city skyline. His mind wandered to the company's financial struggles. A&C Company, once a thriving conglomerate, now teetered on the brink of collapse. As he lost himself in thought, his secretary, Rachael, interrupted. "Sir, Harrison has sent over Emily's contact information," Sophia announced. Ethan's expression turned skeptical. "Harrison thinks she's the best fit for the artwork position," Sophia explained. Ethan raised an eyebrow. "Have her come in for an interview," he instructed. Rachael nodded and dialed Emily's number. Across town, Emily received the call. "Hello, is this Emily?"Rachael asked. "Yes, speaking," Emily replied. "Hi Emily, this is Rachael from A&C Company. We're interested in your artwork. A car will pick you up at 2 PM today for an interview." Emily's heart skipped a beat. "That sounds great, thank you," she said. At 2 PM sharp, a sleek black car arrived at Emily's doorstep. As Emily entered A&C Company's lobby, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. The receptionist escorted her to Ethan's office. Ethan stood, his piercing gaze locking onto hers. "Emily," he said, his tone firm. Their previous encounter flashed through Emily's mind. " So here comes the spoilt girl in my office, didn't expect to see you again," Ethan added. Emily's composure faltered for a moment. "I'm here for the artwork position," she stated. Ethan's expression turned cold. "I've changed my mind. We don't need your services." Emily shrugged. "No problem. I'll leave." As she turned to leave, Harrison burst in. "Emily, wait!" Harrison exclaimed. "Let me explain," Harrison continued outside Ethan's office. "Ethan's under immense pressure. Please reconsider." Emily hesitated. "I'll give it another chance," she said finally. Harrison smiled. "Thank you, Emily." Back in Ethan's office, the tension lingered. " I'll take the job"Emily said with a proud look. "I'm offering you a temporary position, three months," Ethan stated. "You'll report directly to me." Emily's eyes narrowed. "I'll need time to review the contract." Ethan's scowl deepened. Harrison intervened. "Ethan, give Emily space. Let her sign when she's ready." Ethan nodded curtly. Emily left the office, her mind reeling. As she walked out, Ethan followed. Harrison caught up. "Emily, I apologize for Ethan's behavior," Harrison said. "He's under a lot of stress." Emily softened. "I understand." With that, Emily agreed to return the next day to sign the contract. As she left A&C Company, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that this was only the beginning of a tumultuous journey. Ethan returned to his office, his thoughts consumed by Emily. Their previous encounter had left a lasting impression. As he sat at his desk, Ethan's gaze fell upon Emily's portfolio, which Harrison had left earlier. He began to flip through her artwork, admiring the vibrant colors and bold strokes. For the first time, Ethan saw Emily in a different light. The next day, Emily returned to sign the contract. As she entered Ethan's office, their eyes met, and the tension was palpable. "Ready to sign?" Ethan asked, his tone softer. Emily nodded. Harrison arrived, beaming. "Excellent! Let's get started." The contract specified Emily's role as temporary artwork consultant. Three months. Direct reporting to Ethan. Emily signed. Ethan did the same. Their hands touched. A spark. Emily's eyes widened. Ethan's expression turned stoic. "Welcome to A&C Company," he said. Emily smiled. "I'm ready to get started." And with that, Emily stepped into the unknown. --- Emily stepped into her cozy apartment, shutting the door behind her. She took a deep breath, letting go of the tension from her encounter with Ethan. Her sister, Sofia, looked up from the couch, concern etched on her face. "Hey, sis! How was your first day?" Emily collapsed onto the couch beside Sofia. "It was...interesting," Emily said, shaking her head. Sofia's eyes widened. "Spill!" Emily recounted her meeting with Ethan, from the contract to their tense interactions. Sofia listened attentively, her expression shifting from surprise to determination. "You'll show him, Emily! You're talented and capable." Emily smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude toward her sister. The next morning, Emily arrived at A&C Company, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. As she entered her designated workspace, she found a note on her desk: "Meet me in the conference room at 10 AM. -Ethan" Emily's heart skipped a beat. At 10 AM sharp, Emily entered the conference room. Ethan stood at the head of the table, flanked by Harrison and several other executives. "Today's agenda: brainstorming session for our new campaign," Ethan announced. Emily's mind raced as the discussion began. Ethan constantly interrupted her, dismissing her ideas. "I don't think that's feasible," Ethan said, his tone condescending. Emily's frustration grew. "I understand your concerns, but hear me out," Emily pressed. Harrison intervened. "Ethan, let Emily finish. Her perspective might surprise you." Ethan's gaze narrowed. "Proceed," he said curtly. Emily presented her idea, passion fueling her words. The room fell silent. Ethan's expression softened. "Not bad," he said finally. Emily exhaled. Small victories. Here's the continuation: As the brainstorming session concluded, Ethan assigned tasks to each team member. "Emily, I want you to develop a comprehensive design concept by tomorrow," Ethan said. Emily nodded, determination burning within her. "I'll deliver." The rest of the day flew by in a whirlwind of creative fervor. Emily poured her heart and soul into the design concept. At 8 PM, exhausted but satisfied, Emily left the office. The next morning, Emily arrived at the office, design concept in hand. Ethan's gaze scanned the documents, his expression unreadable. "Interesting," he said finally. "A few adjustments, but overall, it's a good start." Emily's heart swelled with pride. "Thank you," she said. Just then, Harrison approached. "Ethan, we have a problem," Harrison said. "Lexington Corp is poaching our clients." Ethan's face darkened. "We need a counter-strategy, now." Emily's mind began racing. "I have an idea," she said. Ethan turned to her. "Let's hear it." Emily outlined her plan. Ethan listened intently. When she finished, Ethan nodded. "Do it." With Harrison's guidance, Emily set to work. Their collaboration sparked a newfound respect between them. But Ethan's past lingered. Would his demons resurface?
