The journey to the top of the cliff was not easy. Slippery and steep rocks forced Eric and Adora to move very carefully. Several times Adora almost slipped, and Eric had to pull her up quickly. Their breathing was labored, sweat soaked their clothes despite the strong sea breeze.
After almost two hours of climbing, they finally reached the top of the highest cliff on the island. The view that lay before them was stunning-and terrifying.
From this height, they could see the entire island. The dense forest in the center, the beaches all around, and most importantly-the small settlement on the western side of the island that they had never seen before.
