Declan had reached an agreement with the villagers. He had provided them with enough seeds, and he was responsible of selling the harvest. The villagers provided land and were responsible for planting. When the medicinal herbs were sold, he would get thirty percent of the profit whereas the villagers would get seventy percent.
At the same time, Declan also added a rule in the contract. If the annual income of planting herbs was lower than that of normal crops for everyone, not only would Declan decline his share of the profit, but he would also chip in to fill the differences for everyone!
