Chapter 3 Liar

1552 Words
Many people who had no money to receive treatment would come here to seek opportunities. They hoped that there were doctors and hospitals who could treat them for free. Some were really poor and they had no other means, while some would just want to take advantage of getting free treatments. They said that they were very miserable but it was all actually fake. Over time, more and more people stopped believing in these people. Declan stood in front of the booth and stared for a while. It was written very clearly on the paper that the man was a retired soldier. His family had no money, his wife died, and he raised his daughter alone. Now that his daughter had leukaemia, he really could not afford the treatment for it. So he hoped that there was a hospital that could treat his daughter for free. What attracted Declan the most was that the man wrote down their living conditions on the paper. They still had a house under their name! He wanted to leave the house to his daughter for her future. He could not live a life without leaving anything to his daughter. In order to get the hospital and doctors to treat them for free, people who came here would normally write that they live an extremely miserable life, such as living under the bridge, eating food from the waste, and drinking rainwater. The more miserable it was, the better it would be. Only in this way could they appear to be desperate for help. But this man was interesting. He even wrote that he had his own house, which at least showed that he was very honest. Just as Declan wanted to walk forward to talk to him, a short, suspicious-looking man with glasses came over and asked with an arrogant face, "Does your daughter have leukaemia?" The man looked up at the man with glasses and nodded, "Yes." The man nodded and said proudly, "I am a doctor. I can cure her." When the man heard this, he became agitated instantly and said to the man, "Doctor, can you really cure my daughter? I beg you. She is still young, you must help her." The man smiled arrogantly and said, "There's no problem with treating her. I've already cured several leukaemia patients, but you know that the treatment for leukaemia needs a bone marrow transplant and the cost for it is not low. I know that your financial condition is not that good, so I can give you a discount." "But I have no money." The man said gloomily. "Don't you have a house? Your daughter's illness is already in the critical stage. If you go to other hospitals to seek treatment, you won't be able to afford it even if you have two houses to sell. I am doing this on behalf of your poor daughter, I really pity both of you. You can just pay for the treatment however much you can with the money from selling this house, then I'll cover the rest." The man with glasses said with a righteous look. The man was suddenly tempted. Actually, the man with glasses was not wrong. The reason why he did not sell the house to treat his daughter was because he was afraid that the money gained from selling the house was not enough to treat her illness! If the illness was not cured and the house was gone, he really had nothing left. But if the man could guarantee that his daughter would be cured as long as the house was sold, then there would be no problem. "Okay! I'll sell it!" The man did not hesitate to nod and agreed. A smug smile flashed across the eyes of the man with glasses, and he said joyfully, "Well, you should go and sell your house first. I'll try my best to cure your daughter's illness." The man got up, wanting to sell the house, but at this moment, Declan could not stand it anymore. The man with glasses was obviously a liar because he had seen this man before! Previously at Sky Hope Hospital, Declan used to distribute leaflets at the park every day and this man was just like him, another doctor in a small private hospital! He just wanted to deceive the father and daughter into going to their hospital for treatment and earn money from the sale of their house. As for whether they could cure the little girl's illness, they could not care less. "Wait! I can treat your daughter for free, and I won't charge you a penny! You don't need to sell your house!" Declan stepped forward and said to the man. "Huh? Really?" When the man heard this, he was dumbfounded. Was there such a thing in the world? Treating an illness for free? The man with glasses was about to clinch a big deal, but he did not expect that Declan would appear to ruin his plan. He glared at Declan with hatred and said angrily, "Hey, don't you know the rules? You're treating it for free? Bah!" After he had finished speaking, the man with glasses said to the middle-aged man, "Don't believe him. I don't think he looks like a good person. He is probably someone who sells human organs. If you allow him to take your daughter away, your daughter is going to die!" Declan did not expect the man to frame him like that. He said to the man with a serious face, "Don't believe his words. He is just a doctor in a small hospital. His hospital doesn't even have the medical equipment to treat leukaemia. He just wants to cheat all of your money! I can treat your daughter on the spot and let her situation get better." "Young lad, you're just boasting without thinking?! You want to treat leukaemia on the spot. Do you even have any medical knowledge? Do you think it's like a fever or a cold that you can get better on the spot?" Seeing that Declan had exposed his intentions, the man immediately scolded Declan angrily. The argument had attracted a lot of people to surround them to watch what was going on. People who were here were all in the medical industry. Small hospitals who made money out of bad intentions and criminals who stole human organs, these were all true stories that had happened in the past! Hence, a lot of people were pointing fingers at Declan, and some even threatened to call the police. Declan did not want to waste time arguing with him. He squatted down and said to the little girl in a soft voice, "Little girl, can you give me your hand? I'll help you cure your illness." The little girl looked at Declan with her big black eyes, then stretched out her little hand. Declan put his finger on the little girl's wrist and quickly examined the little girl's body. Soon after, Declan smiled, stood up, and asked the middle-aged man, "Which hospital's quack doctor diagnosed that your daughter had leukaemia?" "Huh? Sir, what do you mean by that?" The middle-aged man was dumbfounded when he heard this. He asked Declan with a blank face. Declan said to everyone with a confident smile, "Everyone, this little girl is not even suffering from leukemia! She doesn't need a bone marrow transplant at all! She just has a leukemia-like reaction!" "What? How is that possible?" The people around them started to ask curiously. "Sir, is that true? Does that mean that my daughter can be saved?" The man became agitated when he heard that his daughter does not have leukaemia. He asked Declan excitedly. Declan nodded with a smile and said, "Of course. Did your daughter undergo an operation to remove her appendix not long ago?" "How do you know that?" The man asked in surprise. He immediately trusted Declan more. He even knew that his daughter had an operation. Declan answered seriously, "Your daughter had a serious post-operation infection and that's why she has a leukemia-like reaction." "Really? Don't spout nonsense!" Many people around them started saying. At this time, an old man who had just been watching in the crowd said with a serious face, "This young man is right. Leukemia-like reaction has similar symptoms to leukemia. The leukemia-like reaction is most commonly caused by serious bacterial or viral infection. It often occurs in the mass spread of malignant tumors, and it dissolves the effect of medicine and dilutes the blood in the body. The leukemia-like reaction is more common among children and young people." "Oh, isn't that Old Master Chiao?" A middle-aged man in the crowd recognized the old man and came forward to greet him respectfully. The crowd burst into an uproar. This middle-aged man was the director of the Genesis General Hospital in Seashore City! He was a specialist himself, yet he was extremely respectful to this old man. Wasn't this old man even more formidable? "That's Old Master Chiao!" Immediately, some people also recognized the old man. Old Master Chiao, a known figure in the medical industry in this city! What he said was definitely right. "Young man, can you cure her?" Old Master Chiao looked at Declan with a smile and asked.
