chapter 8: Uncovering Secrets Ember's POV: I excused myself and made my way to the cabin. Mara had given me a small room to myself, reason being that it's late and I shouldn't go back to my house, and I was grateful for the solitude. As I settled into bed I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. The pack seemed welcoming and friendly but, something still seemed off, the way they looked at me, it wasn't normal. My thoughts drifted to Theodore, I hadn't seen him since I went with Mara. I tossed and turned around in bed, Just as I was starting to drift off to sleep, I heard a soft knock on the door. I sat up, wondering who it could be. "Come in," I called out. The door creaked open, and Theodore stepped inside. He looked a bit hesitant, but his eyes locked onto mine with a sense of determination. "I wanted to talk to you about something," he said, his voice low and serious. "Something important." I nodded, my heart pounding with anticipation. "What is it?" I asked. Theodore took a deep breath before speaking. "You've been noticing some... changes in yourself right?," he said. "Changes that don't quite add up." I frowned, unsure of what he was getting at. "What kind of changes?" I asked. Theodore's eyes locked onto mine. "Your senses seem to be heightened," he said. "Your reflexes are faster, and your strength is increasing. It's as if you're... evolving." I felt a shiver run down my spine. What was he talking about? "Evolving?" I repeated. "What do you mean?" Theodore hesitated, as if unsure of how to respond. But then, he seemed to steel himself and continued. "I think you might be more than just human," he said. "I think you might be... one of us." I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. What was he saying? "One of you?" I repeated. "What do you mean?" Theodore's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a flicker of something there - something that looked almost like hope. "I think you might be a werewolf," he said. I felt like my world had been turned upside down. A werewolf? Was he crazy? But as I looked into Theodore's eyes, I saw something there that gave me pause. Something that made me wonder if maybe, just maybe, he was telling the truth. I looked at him, searching for answers. But his expression was guarded, and I couldn't read his thoughts. "What does this mean?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Theodore's eyes locked onto mine. "It means that you might be one of us," he repeated. "And if that's the case, then you'll need to learn how to control your abilities." I frowned, unsure of what to make of this. "Control my abilities?" I repeated. Theodore nodded. "Yes. As a werewolf, you'll have certain... powers. And you'll need to learn how to use them responsibly." I felt a surge of excitement mixed with fear. Powers? What kind of powers? But before I could ask any more questions, Theodore stood up. "We'll talk more about this later," he said. "For now, just... be careful." And with that, he turned and left, leaving me to process this life-changing revelation. As I lay in bed, my mind racing with questions and doubts, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. Was I really a werewolf? And if so, what did that mean for me?
