Ever since Xander was five he had not once stepped into the man's office. He was the son of the alpha he had to be above therapy. He had to show his pack he was strong both mentally and physically. Clearly his facade was breaking ever since Cassian came into the picture. He's made several huge mistakes that were causing the pack to question just what is wrong with their alpha. Xander and his father had done their best to keep what happened to Xander on lock down but now the suppressed feelings Xander was always told to ignore were flooding out like a poison effecting his everyday life.
On the other side of the large mahogany door sat Dr. Decimus Silius. He was the packs one and only mental health doctor. Unlike most wolves in the pack we have met so far Dr. Silius had no patients for humans. It could even be said he disliked them greatly and was happy to have nothing to do with them. That left the doctor with very few cases since everyone with a human mate in need of a mental health professional wouldn't take them to Silius . Add that to the fact that most wolves spent their lives ignoring their mental health in favor of looking normal to their pack and his office was mostly empty. Except for the occasional postpartum depression case or the few times a child was self harming. Dr. Silius almost never had a grown male wolf in his office.
So he sat tirelessly reviewing his books as he waited for patients to come seeking his guidance. As he sat he didn't know that the strangest case he would ever have to deal with stood on the other side of his door still indecisive as to weather he would dare enter the office.
Xander waited one more breath before forcing his hand forward and knocking so he couldn't change his mind. The knock rang
ominously throughout the office as Dr. Silius looked up from his book in surprise. He hadn't been expecting anyone today but he was pleased to break up the monotony of his usual day with an actual patient.
Finally. He thought as he called out to the person on the other side. "Come in!"
Xander swallowed nervously before turning the knob and opening the door with more confidence then he felt. When he fully revealed himself to the older man Dr. Silius' eyes widened in shock to see who was at his door. He quickly stood giving a small bow of respect to his alpha.
"Hello alpha, did you need something from me?" He asked a bit nervously. He didn't think he would ever have to give counsel to his alpha. What would the alpha want? Maybe he wasn't here for himself. His little human mate was having issues the doctor had heard.
Before replying Xander shut the door and stared the man down. His eyes spoke the threat but Xander made sure to make it clear.
"I know as a doctor you have sworn your confidentiality but let me make something clear. I will not hesitate to kill you if what I am about to say leaves this room." Xander spoke the words as menacingly as he could.
Dr. Silius was rightly shaken. "Y-yes a-alpha. Please have a seat."
Xander nodded at the doctors promise but silently refused the offered chair. He felt vulnerable enough as it was he needed to remain standing to hold on to some semblance of control. The alpha's refusal to sit made Dr. Silius more nervous but he just went along with it. Silius listened intently as Xander began to tell his tale.
The tale Xander told was horrific and solidified his hatred for humans. Dr. Silius knew the human woman who had done this. She had been mated to Felix, the doctor’s younger brother, for just over a year. Silius felt terribly for his brother and offered him his services to help him cope but his brother had stoically refused. The looks Felix had given Xander's human mate had not gone unnoticed by Decimus over the years. Silius had told his brother to ignore the boy. He had told Felix on many occasions that the boy was not his son. He knew that it hurt Felix greatly but someone had to keep him standing. So Felix watched his deceased mates son grow up a slave. After losing his mate Felix had begged the alpha to let him keep the last piece of her. Of course no sane alpha would let the human boy be raised among wolves. His humanity doomed number forty-two to slavery. For that Silius was happy. He would have been sick having to see the boy everyday and act like he was family. Felix may have been able to forgive his mate but no one else was bound to. That is why throughout the entire process the alpha did not once listen to Felix's opinion. Or thats the reasoning the doctor thought was going through the old alpha's head. After hearing Xander's story Silius resized that part of it, probably most of it actually, was all for revenge on the boys mother for taking his pup.
Silius listened to his alpha spew out every single chain of events from the time he was captured all the way until three days ago at the mall.
"So Decimus, I want you to fix me. Help me to get rid of this irrational fear. Make me love my mate the way I should." Xander finished.
Silius was take aback by the young alpha. To think all that he had been going through alone his entire life. What happened to Xander as a child should have been addressed back then. Now it was just left to fester for the past two decades.
"I don't mind helping you get over your fear alpha but I don't know what you expect me to do about the second problem. I am not a couples therapist. I never had to study that, as you know mates rarely have relationship issues. Who knows, maybe working out your issues first will solve both problems. Not that I could care less for that boy. After what he did I will happily turn a blind eye towards these so called 'horrific' things the pack says you do to him. Who cares? He's human. He deserves this more than most humans in my eyes." The doctor admitted his feelings for the alpha's mate no longer able to keep them to himself.
The Doctor was shocked when even after all the hateful things Xander had just said about the human he heard the alpha growl. In the blink of an eye Xander had Silius by his throat against the back wall gasping for air his head leaving a crack in the blueish grey paint.
"I don't give a f**k how you feel about the situation. You will help me to the best of your ability no mater your bias towards my mate. I know your still hurting for your brother but I'm ordering you to be professional about this. I suggest you read up on your couples therapy doc. Order a few books on the matter. I'm done for the day, I'll be back here the same time next week." Xander growled into the man's increasingly reddening face.
"Y-ess al-pha." Dr. Silius choke out unable to get the air needed to form the words properly.
"Good." With that Xander dropped the smaller man and was out the door before Silius could catch his breath. Silius would have to be very careful if he valued his life.
When Xander left the room he realized two hours had passed in the Doctor's office. He walked up to his own door and was relieved to here no sound coming from within. But then he was suddenly nervous. What if something had happened to Cassian? He quickly
opened to door and turned the corner to see what Cassian was up to. Xander was pleased to see the boy had cried himself to sleep. Xander always felt more at ease when Cassian was asleep. He walked to the cage, still a bit skittish, to make sure the door was locked. He always did this randomly throughout the night when nightmares woke him. Nightmares of someone attacking a helpless young Xander. The dream always started off as that woman but quickly morphed into the face of his mate. He shuttered at the memory and quickly recoiled from the cage as if it had burned him.
"I'm sorry master..." Cassian mumbled making Xander jump. He looked into the cage to see the boy was still asleep. Xander sighed in relief.
"No Cassian I'm sorry." Xander spoke too low for anyone to hear, almost low enough to wonder if he had said it at all. Just speaking all the events out loud to Dr. Silius had made Xander feel better.
Xander yawned mentally exhausted from the emotional trauma that always came with retelling his story. Xander checked the time to see it was only twelve o'clock. He wasn't needed in his office so he decided after several sleepless nights he deserved a nap. Removing his clothes he crawled into bed naked and slept comfortably once again.
