With so much going on, the weeks passed quickly until the time arrived for the family vacation at the cabin. Wednesday morning, Drew picked up Alyssa and Ethan and loaded them into his car. Beth walked them out and gave him a long look. “What are you going to do?” she asked him.
“Try to figure things out,” he replied, trying not to take offense at her unfriendly stare. “This is a messy situation.”
“Yes.” She narrowed her eyes and glared. “Don't get her pregnant again.”
Drew's cheeks burned. Are you going to risk that? Part of you wants to. But what he said was, “No. That's not really much of a concern.”
“I disagree. I see how you look at her.”
