The fragrance of pizza awoke Alyssa, but for a moment she didn't know where she was. Lost in a hazy dream, her eyes refused to zero in on anything. She closed them again. The oven door banged, startling her the rest of the way awake. At last, she found herself able to focus on the guest room of Drew's apartment. Though small, it was nicely decorated, the windows framed in honey-colored wood. The antique dresser matched the bed frame; simple, pale Shaker-style furniture. Alyssa shook her head as her confused thoughts crowded back in on her. You're such a selfish girl.
