Alpha Sebastian POV
“You are in a good mood.” Jason says as soon as I waltz through the front door of the pack house.
“That I am. I have a date tonight.” I practically sing, I am on cloud 9 right now.
“WHAT? What about your mate?” Jason asks. I swear my beta is a tone-deaf playboy.
“My date is with my mate, idiot.” I say, but I am so happy that even Jason cannot annoy me right now.
“Where are you going?” Jason asks.
“I am going to take Kamiko out for a picnic. It will be safe as the place I have planned falls just outside of our territory, so a few warriors can be on standby encase anything happens.” I say.
The pack is already buzzing with the news that they are going to have a new Luna soon, and even though she is human the pack already love her. Many of them already know Kamiko as they regularly visit the bar in which she works, so when they learned that she is their new Luna they were overjoyed.
Which made me even happier as it means that the pack and I accept her, now all we need is for Kamiko to accept us. The fact that Jeff is now friends with her and Brenda and her are quickly becoming close friends means that Kamiko will have three people she can trust in the pack when we tell her the truth.
I spend the rest of the day and evening in my office getting all of the paperwork done and checks done so that I can be free tomorrow for the whole day, mainly because I need the morning to be able to prepare for the date of a lifetime.
I look up from the paperwork and see that it is dark outside, looking closer and even the houses
I go to bed and dream of a wonder filled day with my mate tomorrow.
I awake to the rays of the sunshine and the sound of the birds singing in the trees, I am still in a brilliant mood and get up and shower.
I get dressed in black jeans, a teal colored shirt which I leave three buttons undone and my hair tousled. I must say, I look good even if I do say so myself.
You better, want mate. My wolf grumbles.
He has been moaning since we met her that he still has yet to technically meet her, and while I would love nothing more than them to meet, I know that right now is not the time. Therefore, it is all on me to make her fall in love with us and to bring her home. But only when she is ready.
I head downstairs where I make all of the arrangements; I have a hamper filled with delicious food freshly prepared and sent to the location that has an amazing view of the forest. Along with the hamper I have cushions and a blanket sent, after all I am planning to be there with her until early evening, so we need to be comfortable.
I leave the pack house with a spring in my step and practically run and floor it to Kamikos apartment where she is waiting for me in a sexy outfit that makes me and my wolf growl.
The Date
The date has been going amazingly. Kamiko has not stopped smiling, although neither have I.
“I am so glad that you agreed to this.” I say to Kamiko, smiling at her.
“I love it here, and I love spending time with you.” Kamiko replies, blushing hard.
“You do, do you?” I ask teasingly, enjoying the way her cheeks get even redder.
“I just want to say…” Kamiko says but my attention is pulled away from what she is saying and towards the treeline.
Suddenly, my nose is filled with the smell of rotting flesh, that means that rogues are approaching. And from the intensity of the scent there are a many number of them, I look around trying to find where they are going to come into view, but the stench is all around.
We have a problem. Rogues are surrounding us. I quickly mind link to the warriors.
On our way, where are they? Asks my head warrior Steven.
I don’t know, but from the strong scent there are a large number of them.
On it, stay safe until we get there, please alpha. The mind link is then closed.
Tens upon tens of wolves step out of the tree lines and they are coming from all sides, the only place they are not coming from is behind us but that is because it is my pack territory behind us.
They all bear their teeth and they start to move closer to us, I stand up with Kamiko and push her behind me. I can feel her small hands trying to pull me away, but I cannot let them get to her.
“What do you want?” I shout at them, the reply I receive is an all round growl.
“I think they want us, for dinner.” Kamiko replies, whispering the last part but I can still hear her. The terror in her voice very clear.
Apparently, the rogues also heard the last part as some of the wolves start to laugh.
Where the hell are you?! I shout at Steven.
We are still a few minutes away, there was a diversion a bit further up the pack line. He replies.
We don’t have minutes, if something doesn’t change now then we are both dead within seconds.
There is only one thing I can do.
But mate… My wolf whimpers.
I know, but what choice do we have? At least this way mate will still be alive, I reply. Not finishing the sentence with the words ‘even if she then hates us. But it is clear that is what we are both thinking.
“Let’s go.” Kamiko whispers, breaking my conversation with my wolf. I can still feel her trying to pull me.
“I am sorry.” I say to her as I slowly pry her fingers off my shirt.
Kamiko looks at me with worry and confusion, and it breaks my heart that she is soon going to look at me with terror and hatred.
In order to protect Kamiko, I have to shift. I look apologetically at her as I transform in front of her, my wolf letting out a howl of warning and sorrow as our mate backs away from us in terror.
