Emily Roberts
I can't believe I came here. Why did I think that this was a good idea in the first place? I should have stayed at the dorm, watching some cheap movie, or doing something more constructive than watching teenagers with their teenage hormones all over the freaking place.
To match my expectation the mood in here is pretty much what I thought it would be. Drunk people. Drunk people everywhere. It's been an hour since I arrived here and at the moment I stood foot in this house I saw a guy throwing up in the beautiful lawn and a couple eating each other out in some sort of cannibalistic way. Get a freaking room.
''You're quiet.'' Tori murmured leaning closer to me. We are sitting by the pool drinking some kind of a 'soda' that I'm pretty sure has alcohol on it. ''Not having fun?'' She sighed stirring with a straw the yellow drink inside her paper glass.
I took a sip of mine. ''I said that coming here was a bad idea, didn't I?'' I hissed, regretting instantly my tone, watching the couple that was on the other side of the pool engaged in a heated conversation. Why do people always pick up a fight in parties? Like enjoy yourself and stop being a moron. Seriously.
''We have to socialize.'' She said looking at me. I notice her gaze so I turned back at her. ''This is our chance to stop being an outcast and actually engaged with people you know?'' She added twitching on the sun lounger. ''And I need your help because I'm not very good at it.''
''You engaged pretty fine with me the first time we met each other.'' I replied at her finishing my drink in one sip. Oh crap. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.
''Because I notice you were kind of retarded like I am.'' She informed chuckling. I'm not retarded! I hit her playfully in her arm. ''Don't hit me for saying the truth.'' She continued.
I rolled my eyes at her. I'm not! ''First of all, I am not retarded. Second of all, if you want to go and 'socialize' then you can go.'' I replied crossing my leg and leaning back at my seat. ''I will be fine.'' I smile at her. I will, maybe I could just sleep here and forget that I came here in the first place.
''I don't know... '' She sighed looking down at her hands. ''I don't want to leave you alone.'' She confessed turning to look at me. ''There are a lot of pervs and I don't want anything happening to you.'' I beamed at her. It's so cute to see that she cares about me.
''Look.'' I started leaning closer to her. ''You were the one who wanted to come here, so you better go out there and have some fun and stop wasting time babysitting me.'' I told grabbing her hands and squeezing them a little. ''Just go. Nobody is going to mess with me. And if they do, I scream or run. Depending on my mood.'' I tried to convince her to go by making her stand up.
She giggled about what I said but obeyed. ''Listen, I know that this place is huge, so if you need anything call me asap.'' She informed taking the phone of her purse and handing it to me. I took it but was I little uncertain of what the hell did I need her phone for. ''Put your number in there. I still don't have it.''
Oh crap. The phone. I don't have one yet. What teenager doesn't have one? She is right. I am a freaking retarded.
''I changed number recently and I left my phone at the dorm.'' I lied praying to every god that I know that she believes me. ''I'll give it to you tomorrow.'' I added to reinforce my lie. I am so not going to heaven.
''Okay.'' She shook her head a little but accepted my lame excuse. ''I'll be around if you need me.'' She informed picking her purse from the sun lounger.
I saw her disappearing an in a sea of people. I don't know how I will be able to find her. Did all the people in Miami came here tonight?
To make the time pass more quickly I decided to go and explore the house.
This house was massive. It has three floors, with twenty bedrooms equipped with the most luxury furniture ever, two kitchens, eight bathrooms and even a movie theatre! Like, come on! Can I live here too? I don't really understand the whole point of being in a sorority. I get that it's easier to make friends and to get more popular, but still... I think I'll never know until I join one, which will never happen because let's be honest. I'm not sorority material.
I went to the kitchen and grabbed some 'tapas' to fill my stomach and another drink. The food here isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. You can't expect a huge thing coming for a sorority honestly. They are more worried about buying some good drinks and not some quality snacks to prevent people from passing out. Classic.
''Did it hurt?'' I jumped as I felt a hand on my shoulder. Turning around I saw a guy with the same age as me trying to stand up straight. Great, he is drunk. I rolled my eyes internally. Why am I not surprised?
''Did what hurt?'' I asked back harshly and bitterly trying to distance myself a little.
''When you fell from heaven.'' The guy chuckled putting an arm over my shoulders. ''Because you look like an angel.'' He was so close to me. The stench that came from his mouth told me that he was totally wasted. I tried to take his arm off of me but failed miserably. Too heavily drunk for me.
''Do guys still use that cheap pick up line?'' I rolled my eyes continuing to walk outside with him depending on me. If he pukes, let it be on the lawn and not on top of me, or I would seriously go ballistic. ''That is so freaking old that it hurts to listen to.''
''You are so beautiful so I took my chances.'' He managed to respond actually sounding like a sober person.
''Will it hurt?'' I asked trying to sit him in the chair by the pool. The sunbeds are now occupied. I should have stayed there.
''Will what hurt?'' He retorted grabbing a glass of Vodka that one of the waitresses was serving. Seriously? Not in my watch. I took the glass away from his hand and placed it on the tray of another waitress.
''The huge headshake caused by the enormous hangover that you will have tomorrow.'' I blurted out trying to search for someone with water for him to drink, but 'nada'.
''Well, it will be worth it.'' He replied scanning me from top to bottom. Ew, why am I even helping this dude? I am so freaking stupid.
''Let's see if you say that tomorrow.'' I smiled ironically trying to straighten up my dress. I knew this one was too short. ''I have to get going. Bye.''
''Wait!'' He yelled a little too loud. I turned around slowly. ''I still don't know your name.''
I can tell him. It's not like he will remember my name tomorrow anyway. And maybe if I tell, he will leave me the hell alone. ''It's Emily.''
Suddenly I noticed a huge splash on the water. It caught me off guard and I took a step back. Who the f**k decided to go swimming at 1 in the morning? Wait... It's that...
''Tori!'' I shouted on top of my lungs gaining the attention of the people around me. What the hell is she doing? She can't swim!
I was about to dive to help her, but a male figure stepped in my way and dive first. Oh, it's Brian! What is he doing here?
He carefully carried her to one of the sunbeds and thank god she didn't pass out. ''Are you okay?'' He inquired worried evident in his voice. I honestly saw concern in his eyes.
She coughed trying to expel the water that she inhaled. ''I'm fine. Thanks.'' She bitterly said after a minute trying to compose herself.
''What the hell were you thinking?'' I snapped grabbing a towel that was on top of a table for her to clean herself up a little. ''You said you can't swim.'' I whispered in her ear. ''Are you drunk?'' I inquired narrowing my eyes at her.
''What?'' She gasped cleaning her face and her hair which was dripping. ''No, what the hell Emily!'' I know she doesn't drink, but at these parties, you never know. ''That b***h tossed me.'' She pointed to a blonde girl that was in front of us.
''What b***h?'' Brian asked looking around until his eyes landed on that blonde girl. Who is she?
''That stupid little friend of yours.'' Tori got up and tried to clean her dress. Thank god her dress isn't tight or it would be weird and uncomfortable for her.
''Melanie?'' He gasped looking at Tori.
Before I knew there were a lot of people gathered around us. Including Christopher and a guy that I never saw before. This keeps getting better and better.
''Tell me you weren't stupid enough to toss her to the water Mel?'' Brian asked getting up and walking towards her. ''You know she can't swim!'' He yelled trying to control himself. His face was all red and the veins on his neck were standing out.
''I didn't mean to!'' She stated walking over to Tori. ''I'm sorry!'' She apologized grabbing a towel from a table to help Tori cleaning up. Tori just walked away from her.
''No, you're not.'' Tori replied walking to my side. ''You knew pretty well what you were doing, you pretentious little piece of a human being.'' Tori said sending death glares to this Melanie girl.
''Was this really necessary Melanie?'' Christopher asked crossing his arms over his chest. I don't why, but I never noticed before that he has a little of an English accent. Not too much, but maybe he was born in England. Ahh... Why do I even care?
''I did not do this on purpose. It's not my fault that she is clumsy and doesn't know how to walk like a decent person.'' She cried crossing her arms like a stubborn child.
''I'll show you how clumsy I can be.'' Tori said grabbing a beet juice that was on the table nearby and tossing it to Melanie white dress. Oh no she didn't!
''Oh my f*****g god! You little b***h!'' Melanie snapped walking closer to Tori. ''I'm going to kill you!'' She was about to go all hulk mode but thank god Christopher and Brian stepped in.
''Calm the f**k down.'' Christopher mumbled to Melanie trying to grab her head to make her face him. ''It's not that bad. It looks like an abstract painting.'' He finished with a small smile trying to mask his will to laugh.
''Oh f**k off Chris.'' She pushed herself away from him and grabbed her purse. ''You will regret this. Mark my word on that.'' She stated in a threatening tone towards Tori.
