The Freedom Stadium was a bee-hive of activity as the country marked its fifty years of independence from the colonial government . In contrast to the large number of people who had previously attended the same celebrations , the current population was sadly dwarfing . In fact the number had been gradually dwindling since the current government came to power . Had it not been for the psychopaths and government officials who had been compelled to attend by virtue of their portfolios , the stadium could have looked deserted , save for the hawkers who were out to make a penny by the sales of their merchandise .
