The chilly morning made it impossible for most people to leave the comfort of their homes despite the excruciating pangs of hunger . Due to the increasing mass unemployment , most people had resorted to doing menial jobs if only to get even a day's single meal . It was even worse that the prices of essential commodities were daily skyrocketing . Today's atmospheric conditions could not allow any open-field activities , upon which many depended , to be undertaken . Many felt that the weather had conspired with the government to ensure their slow deaths through starvation .
