Chapter Eighteen

Jason_ I had met with the vampire covenant leader too many times to count. As usual, we limited our meetings. Our contact? Almost hard to explain. It was always the same when we met; in a dark facility with minimal lighting and his facial features always well hidden. When asked why he did not want to reveal his face, he always told me it was his way of going unnoticed when in public. I always thought it was because he was hard to look at or his skin was not rich enough in color to be exposed. However, those thoughts I formed within my mind began to die out. Now, I thought he was hiding something much richer then a hideous face. "Where are we going?" Zeiden cycled through his phone, his eyes drawn to his social media profiles. "I have to see someone." I pushed down on to the gas pedal, passing the speed limit. "Donations?" "Huh?" Zeiden ripped his eyes away from his phone to motion toward the four plain t-shirts I had tossed in the back seat of my vehicle. "No." Zeiden put away his phone before he looked at me. "Look, if we are going to be in this relationship, we need communication." He teased as he smiled. "Shut up. I have to see someone." I pulled into the parking lot of a small shopping center before I cut the engine. "Oh." His eyes squinted slightly as he read the name of the small antique furniture shop. We got out of the car. "You want to buy some furniture?" "No." I opened up the door, listening as the bells chimed to alert the working party of our entrance. "No. Her." I pointed to the woman who emerged from the rear of the shop. She was elegant when she walked, her posture, her spoken words, all carried so well. She was an older woman; however, beauty seemed so well preserved on her. "Ah, Jason." She greeted me with her hand. As usual, I greeted it with a kiss. "I can't say I'm surprised to see you." "Of course not Sasha," I grinned. "And this must be Zeiden?" "Correct." Being the dramatic character, Zeiden took her other hand into his. Bowing down, he kissed her hand with upmost elegance, even though he did not understand who she was. "Ah. manners." She looked at me. "You have a striving tribe, Mr. Alpha. Come with me." She turned to walk away. Looking at Zeiden, I grunted, watching as his smile began to expand. "Idiot." I shoved past him... We made ourselves comfortable like she asked. Waiting at her table, we watched as she returned to the back room once she locked up the shop for the time. She took a seat at the table before she glanced up at us. "You look more and more like your father every day." She spoke, acknowledging my appearance which seemed to resemble my father's each passing day. "I believe you tell me that every time." I smiled. "Of course." She fiddled with a few things on the table before she looked at me. "I take it this is not a simple stop in." I nodded. I was not here for a simple stop and go. I needed her help. "I need your help." I confirmed. "You need a spell." "A witch." Zeiden seemed almost surprised. "A good one." I fed her ego. "Stop it." She flagged me away; however, the glowing smile on her face confirmed to me she was eating it all up. "Magic is rusty. I have done little magic in a long time. Back when your father was Alpha." "Yes. And we will almost be thankful for your help." Her eyebrow curved upwards as she looked at me. Her curiosity at its peak. "What do you need?" She asked. Shoving the t-shirts onto the table, she looked them over. Zeiden sat back. I assume he was wondering what a spell had to do with some old rags of clothing. "These." "A cloaking spell?" She questioned. "Who Can we being hiding from Alpha?" "Vampires." Simultaneously, they questioned, both wondering who I was hiding myself from. "Vampires? What are you boys into?" She stared between us. "I'm not sure." Zeiden eyed me. The peering glare confirmed his anger in not knowing what was going on. “I want a few others to go unnoticed when we come in contact. Our smell gives us away with them." I nodded. "I don't want them to see us coming." "Well." Sasha stood from the table. "I will get my things." As she made her way out, Zeiden turned to me. Before he could speak, before he can turn this into another lecture, I silenced him. "The covenant leader." "You want to sneak up on the man who has been giving us all the information?" "Something about him is weird." "Weird?" he questioned. "What is weird is us going against a so called ally." "We do not consider him an ally when he holds back so much. He could be the one we are looking for." "This is ridiculous." Zeiden slumped back. "And the shirts?" She created a spell that could absorb our scent into the material, which would allow us to move as we pleased. We would blind this will give a chance to meet him" I could tell Zeiden had a few comments lingering in his head, but he knew it was best to keep them to himself. Sasha returned, her smiling glowing when she held onto a small box. It was magic. Her craft made her so happy. "Shall we begin?" ..... I have contemplated numerous times in my mind whether or not what I was about to do was a good idea. All of my hunches could be wrong. I could rip through a mutual agreement all because I had a hunch or feeling. "Put these on." I told a few others who stood by me, waiting for me to give him their next order. I told them that these shirts held magic through the fine stitches. I told them it would conceal their scent. I even told them what I was looking for however I never told them of the alliance I had with these people. I gave them one simple order. Find them. Cease them. Bring them to me alive. With orders, they ran off to take their place deep within the trees. "What did you tell me?" "Nothing important." I informed Zeiden. "Did you text them?" Zeiden slipped on his shirt. "I told them I had some information. They are on their way." "Ok." Zeiden nodded. "What am I doing?" I asked as I stared out over the back patio. "Something stupid." Zeiden leaped down off the patio. "As usual." He took off running. With little effort and a racing mind, I followed him....
