Episode 3

I couldn't believe my eyes. My childhood home was on fire! I raced to get home out of fear that my mother was trapped there. I slammed the door open when I got there and started yelling their names. I covered my mouth and continued yelling at them. Suddenly, I heard my mother call out to me and I raced upstairs only to find that she was trapped in their room. I heard her let out a scream and I quickly grabbed the ax from the broom closet upstairs and quickly chopped down the door. However, the sight before me almost made me scream. My mother was being torn apart and devoured by a monstrous dragon. I stood frozen in fear when I suddenly was pulled away and my eyes were covered. I could tell by the smell of cologne that it was Rufus. He whispered in my ear, "It's not safe here. We have to go. Now close your eyes." I nodded my head before closing them tightly and he grabbed my hand gently to lead me out of the house. I opened my eyes and looked back at my childhood home. I couldn't stop the tears from streaming down my face. Rufus continued to lead me deep into the forest. When he was satisfied with how far we were, he let go of my hand and allowed me to breathe. The images of what happened to my mother ran through my head, causing me to start sobbing. Suddenly, I was starting to feel uneasy and suspicious about him because he was able to remain calm about everything. What if he was a part of the death of my mother and the attempt on my life in town?! He must've sensed my unease or read my thoughts because he turned to look at me before running a hand through his hair and sighing, "Look, I can't tell you the whole truth right now, but what I can tell you is that I had nothing to do with what happened to your mother. Let me get you to safety and you will have your answers." I trusted him. He never stopped protecting me and he always helped my father. I nodded my head and he smiled at me. Holy s**t! Did he just smile at me?! I watched as he took off his leather jacket and stood in awe. I never realized how muscular he was. He was only wearing a black V-neck shirt that showed off all his muscles and how toned his chest was. My eyes traveled up and took in his facial features. He had golden-brown hair with gorgeous teal eyes like a deep lagoon that pulled me into their depths. He had perfectly trimmed eyebrows, a lovely straight nose, high cheekbones, and a chiseled jaw. All of these features complemented each other so well that not even an artist could ever create such a masterpiece. I heard a snap and was drawn back to reality and locked eyes with him. I blush after realizing he caught me staring. He chuckled and asked, "Do you trust me?" I nodded my head. "Then you need to come here," he said. I slowly walked over and he picked me up bridal style. I squealed and blushed even redder if that were possible before asking, " What are you doing?!" He chuckled and said with a grin, "We're flying to safety." I looked at him confused and asked," Flying? How?" He smirked and said, "Like this!" Not a second later, two dragon-like wings appeared from behind him. I gasped because they didn't fill me with fear, but drew me in instead. I found them to be quite beautiful and reached out to touch them. I heard him grunt a little, but not out of pain, and I couldn't help the giggle that escaped my lips. He flapped them and slowly climbed up into the sky before flying south. I realized it was the same direction the dragon we came across earlier took. I wrapped my arms tightly around Rufus's neck and I felt him tighten his hold on me. I smiled, thinking that I would be alright as long as Rufus stayed by my side. Then, I grew worried because of what Rufus said earlier about getting answers. Come hell or high water, I was going to get the f*****g answers I deserved or I was going to burn everything to the ground. I looked towards the setting sun, determined to see what the future had in store for me. All I knew was that I was ready to take on the world no matter what the cost.
