The rain is coming down even harder when we get outside than it was when we arrived, and we’re only a few houses away when Aaron starts to wobble more severely.
The three of us end up having to arrange Rand’s girlfriend across all six of our outstretched arms, and when we reach Olive Street, after such a slow walk that the paramedics are already waiting impatiently for us there, it’s an act of synchronized acrobatics for us to set her down on their damp stretcher.
“What did she take?” they begin to quiz us while they take her pulse and shine a flashlight in her eyes.
“We didn’t see,” says Aaron.
“We heard her friends talking about ‘Paris-thesia’?” Sophie adds uncertainly.
“What’s her name?”
“We don’t know,” I say.
