"You're lying!" Athena exclaimed in shock and fell on her behind.
He looked at her with unwavering eyes. "I am not lying. You called me selfish, and I am. I wanted to have a child, and I knew I could love, protect, and make her happy, but I cannot give her the mother she needs until you come."
Athena was in disbelief as she stared at the man in front of her. "But—"
"I don't want to talk about it, Athena. I'll just call Dave." Phoenix avoided her and called his guard.
"Daddy, where is mommy?" Mary asked from the other line.
"She's with me, baby. We just went somewhere for a bit."
