Chapter Four: End My Patience
Athena knew there were two possibilities. First, her whole body will freeze in fear, and second, she needs to fight for her life. Something that she's been doing her whole life.
When she peeked from where she was hiding again, she saw Brian talking to someone on his phone while his back was facing her. Athena didn't waste any more time before running to the fire exit. Her feet almost slipped in haste to get away, and her whole body was screaming in pain, but she didn't care. Surrendering is the last thing that she will do.
After what seemed like forever, she reached the parking lot. She ran like the devil was chasing her, and well, the devil was actually after her. She panicked, and her eyes searched for something until she saw the man earlier about to get in a car.
"If you want, I can drive you home, Phoenix," Elon offered to his boss-s***h friend.
"No need for that. I can drive."
Elon did not say anything and sat on the passenger side while Phoenix drove the car. They were about to leave the parking lot when a woman blocked the way, and for the second time that day, Phoenix stepped hard on the brake with a curse. When he recognized the woman, Phoenix's eyes ignited with anger as he got out of the car.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
As he stared at the woman who dared to hug him, he felt a strange feeling inside him.
"You can't just leave me!" Athena yelled nervously.
"What?" Phoenix snapped in disbelief. "Ah, I get it now. The money I gave you isn't enough, is it? How ridiculous! Alright, tell me how much you want because I feel sorry for you. And when you have it, you better get the hell away from my sight."
"No! I don't need your money! I need you to help me! You ran me over, right? What do you think of me? A puppy you can just abandon? I am a human! Now save me because you owe me!"
His dark eyes and emotionless face frightened Athena, so she swallowed, but she knew it was better than for Brian to find her. She flinched when the man strode to her with his hand in the air, and she closed her eyes. That's when Phoenix stopped.
"Phoenix, do you want me to call the security to drag her away?"
Athena saw Brian behind them, and it looked like he hadn't seen her, so she needed to hide! When she saw the car, she didn't think twice before running to it and squeezing herself behind it.
The two men who saw what she did were left astonished.
"What is she doing?" Phoenix asked in confusion, with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"I don't know. Do you want me to take her out?" Elon, who was confused but annoyed, asked.
Phoenix raised his hand, and Elon pursed his lips. It's been seven years since he started working for Phoenix, and when he saw the emotion in his blue eyes, he knew the woman should run away. Phoenix is not as ruthless with women, but he's livid now.
Athena looked in the rearview mirror and saw that Brian was still standing there, talking to someone on his phone. Her heart is pounding like crazy, and she's like a rabbit hiding from a hungry tiger. She heard the door opening, and she hugged herself when she saw the man with a permanent scowl on his handsome face.
"Do you really want to test my patience?"
Athena swallowed when she felt the coldness in his voice. "Just please take me away from here," she begged the man.
Phoenix started the car without saying a word, and Elon was shocked when his boss left him there, and he had no choice but to stare after the car.
When the car left the hospital, Athena was finally able to breathe. "You can drop me at the nearest bus stop, and I swear I won't bother you again. I'm sorry, I just really needed to leave."
Athena saw his emotionless eyes through the rearview mirror, and her heart dropped when he did the opposite and drove faster. She hung on for dear life when he stepped on the pedal without a care.
"Stop the car! Please! You're going to get us killed!" She shouted and couldn't take herself to open her eyes.
It's like Phoenix can't hear anything, and he maintained his speed until he saw a trailer truck, and a horrible accident entered his mind.
Athena screamed so loudly that it filled the place when she thought they would die.
