A c**k crowed and jumped away as the people hurried through the small garden. The atmosphere was friendly, with sweet air, drifting on the green heads of the mango trees and other cash crops. Nneka dropped Amadi and stretched her aching muscles. She watched as the boy smiled and ran ahead, hoping to meet with the other children in front. Only the gods know how long they had traveled. Finally, they had escaped death and had lived to see the breaking of dawn in their safe haven. The new environment had an ambiance of home, it was a good sensation.
