CHAPTER 7

1513 Words
Sabrina’s POV “I hope you didn't spit into the coffee cup when my back was turned.” Mr Hottie teased, the moment I placed his order on the table. “I'm a professional sir and would never do that” I stated forcefully, already feeling annoyed. “Oh don't get yourself all riled up, I was only kidding." He shrugged “With all due respect sir, that was an expensive joke that could cost me my job if someone had heard you” I hissed “You are right. That was out of line and I am sorry about that,” he said surprising me as he raised his hands in a gesture of peace, before picking up his coffee and taking a sip. He took a minute to savor the taste before gulping down the rest of the content in one swoop. “You make a mean cup of coffee. This tastes good, well done.” If he thought his commendation would ease the sting of his poor attempt to joke, he had something else coming. “Thank you, I guess,” I replied grudgingly, still a little pissed at him. “Why don't you take a seat?” He gestured to the chair across from him. “I don't think that's a good idea. I mean I'm still on duty and I am not allowed to do that” I explained as I remained standing “If you insist or I could just talk to your manager to give you a few minutes off the clock; if you want” he offered “Discussing with my manager won't be necessary sir, we can talk about whatever you want to speak to me right now, while I am on my feet, I don't mind” I replied trying not to let my impatience show. “Very well then, why did you come to work with your luggage?” He asked bluntly “I beg your pardon? That is a personal question and I don't think you have a right to probe into my personal life, sir!” I said getting more annoyed. What the hell! Does this guy know the concept of boundaries? I mean we just met, because with how striking and breathtaking he looks, I am very sure, I would certainly have remembered him, if I had met him before, so I am wondering how he could ask such a question. “Calm your horses, beautiful. One would think after what happened this morning on the sidewalk that we are more than strangers already." He laughs quietly like he is reminiscing on it. When I don't join in the laughter, he stops abruptly as he continues. "Let's just say, seeing a pretty lady coming to her workplace with her luggage, looking emotionally stressed and off balance, As a gentleman, I am a bit concerned as to what could be going on” This guy is so smooth I swear. This must be how he gets ladies to fall over themselves just to be with him. I bet he leaves a plethora of broken hearts in his wake. “Your concern is appreciated, but once again I am fine." I saw his lips curl in response as if finding my words a complete waste of his time and I felt my temper start to rise. “Just admit you need a place to stay rather than pretend like you are fine when you are not” he smirks “Sir, I don't care who the f**k you are, but my personal life isn't any of your concern so butt out of my business” Anger had my usual shyness receding. At this moment his status means nothing to me as I forgot about being intimidated. All I want to do is throw the cup of coffee at his smug, arrogant, obnoxious, unfairly handsome face. If only I could get away with that, I would have done it. “Look, I didn't mean to sound condescending. The truth is that I am also in a fix, not an accommodation-related problem, but I think we could help each other, that is if you are open to it” His voice was calm and cool. The voice of someone who was too sure of himself. I gave him a look of pure skepticism. I am not buying whatever ever c**k and bull story he is selling. What would someone in his class possibly need from me? However, I can't deny that I am a bit curious to hear whatever outlandish tale he intends to spin. Something glinted in his eyes like he somehow knew what I was thinking as if he could see into my soul. But that couldn't be possible, so I brushed it off as nerves. We are just meeting for the first time. He couldn't have me figured out just like that. “I can see you are in dire need of a place to stay. I am willing to provide you with good accommodation and pay you a million dollars if you agree to be my Fake Fiance for six months.” My eyes widened, if I wasn't leaning on the back of the chair, I am not sure I would have still been standing. After my initial shock, my next reaction was denial. I don't know who he is, but from what I can see of his outfit and carriage, he has the aura of someone with class, and with how gorgeous he looks, there is no way he needs a fake fiance. This makes me narrow my eyes at him. If this was an attempt to prank the poor homeless girl, then he must be a really cruel person. “Look, Mr whatever you call yourself, I do not have time for you and your silly games. You’ve had your fun, now if you will excuse me” I said pushing away from the chair as I attempted to leave. His next words however halted me in my tracks. “I know you don't believe me, perhaps my name will reassure you that I am not one to jest around…” paused and smiled before dropping the bombshell. “I am Ronan Eldorado.” He leaned back on his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. Aghast with shock, his words made me jerk back involuntarily. This is Ronan Eldorado?, the CEO of Eldorado firm. The same company I had applied for a job with that Coral ruined? This couldn't be real. “You are Ronan Eldorado and you want me to pretend to be your fiance?” I repeated. I know I sound dimwitted, I just can't help myself. “Yes,” he said simply. “But I am way out of your league! Why would you want someone like me?” I blurted. “I have my reasons. You only need to pretend for six months. During the six months, you will live with me in my apartment and you will play the part of a dutiful fiance when we are in public. After the expiration of the six months, we can both go our separate ways and you will be a million dollars richer. I get what I want, you get what you want.” He made it sound so simple and tempting. I know I should say no. Although he is Ronan Eldorado, he is still a total stranger to me. Can I stay with someone I just met today and also pretend to be his fiance? However, I am out of options as to where to live and the one million dollars he promised would be enough for me to start my own business at the end of the six months. I feel my resolve wavering the more I think about it. “I accept your offer, but I have my conditions” My heart began to race faster and faster as I waited for his outright refusal. “Miss….?” “Sabrina” I supplied. This is just weird. I just agreed to pretend to be fiance to a man who doesn't even know my name. “Right! Miss Sabrina, you have yourself a deal. I am sure whatever your conditions are, would be within my capacity” he sounded so sure of himself. I find his confidence so annoying and sexy at this same thing. You shouldn't be thinking of him as sexy That small sensible inner voice of mine chided me. “Now get your luggage and let's get out of here,” he said as he stood up to leave. “But I am still on duty” I argued. He laughed at what I said like I was ignorant or oblivious. “As of this moment, you are now my fiance and that means your job here is over,” he said with a voice that brook no argument, before turning to leave. I blinked at him. What in the world did I just get myself into, I thought as I turned to follow him out.
