"Hi!" That was all I could say. Where did you go? Where the hell are you? You better come and finish what you started!
No answer!
I'll do it my way then. I just need to apologize and everything will be back to normal. I opened my mouth to ask for forgiveness and go far away from all of those attentions which were flying my way.
"I'm sorry, " everyone was quite until I heard a voice.
Girl what's wrong with you! My inside voice scolds me.
Seriously? You don't know what's wrong with me? You are responsible for this irresponsible move! I yell to my inside.
Huh I'm tired of your stupid self. God why did you put me inside her? Why? Oh mother earth open up and swallow me.
Wait what? That was my line. I was the one suppose to say those stuffs not you! I scold back.
Let me handle this first, I got a crowd to take care of. I'll be back to you. My inside puts me on hold groaning.
You better! Wait what? Hell no! You ain't gonna handle ....!
"We need change!" Huh, welcome home. "The previous senior body president's system sucked!" Everyone in the room gasped. My bad. "We can do better than some bunch of days and some stupid sorry charities or even some stupid parties which are excuses to get laid, yeah the truth hurts sometimes." Everybody's eyes widened. And our director cleared his throat. I'll take that as a good sign for me to continue.
"We can have fun and score the best results at the same time. We can go camping, hiking, visiting different parts of the country, we can have different competitions both academic and entertainment like sports. We need to experience something new! We can have festivals and other events. I know we're better than this! You are better than this! We don't need to follow a path, we need to leave our own trail!" I stopped looking at the crowd. Seconds later the crowd went wild. Standing up from their sits giving me applauses. Some yelling "yeah!" Others whistling.
"That's my best friend!" Stella yells. I tried to hide my growing smile. But soon the clapping of hands turned into cheering, cheering for me, to be their president.
Hell no!
The director tried to keep them silent. Attempt failed. This is high school and these are high schoolers, hormonal teenaged, nothing is going to stop them. He looked back with pleading eyes asking for help. Well let's see how they're going to reply to this.
"Okay okay," they all zipped up waiting for me to say something "let's negotiate, huh?" They all look confused I can tell.
"A proper election will be held and every 12th grader will vote to whom they think they'll lead best. I..." I was cut off by a man's voice.
"We want you!" He yells. I couldn't see he's face since it was a bit crowded, but students did agree, they cheered.
"Let me finish!" I yell and the room went quite again. Good. "There will be candidates participating the race. And they need to be happy and willing to represent you, I mean us. Since I don't want to be the president, the other candidates will prepare a proposal concerning what they will do and provide after the election. I and other few peoples both from teachers plus students will look their proposals and we'll give conduct. 50 percent will be given for the paper the other 50 will be the result we get from the election. Candidate's can compete for presidential election and vice presidential election. But not both. So we will need some time to arrange and I don't wanna be oh so bossy around here. I want everybody's participation for the better. Do we have a deal?" I ask running out of breath, but everybody was quiet. I think I might need to repeat the last sentence.
"Do we have a deal!" I half yell expecting an answer this time. My mouth is dry like the Saharan desert already. The next thing I heard you're not going to believe, but I'll tell you.
"Yeah!" Every student in the room agreed in unison. Standing up from there asses and cheering. You know I was expecting those eggs and tomatoes flying at me like in the movies. These types of days make me think that everything we see in movies sometimes they just remain in movies nothing more. Peoples are rude in there sometimes but all the good boys are in there too. Go and check if you want to.
"Girl that s**t you did up there was dope." Stella admires after everyone left the hall. Oh and by the way me and the director will be having a meeting on the new idea I just emerged and dropped. I hope not getting in trouble. Because I don't know what my next move is.
"'Comapta'" I thanked her in Korean language that I learnt through some korean series movies I've been watching lately. They're pretty cool. I'm not into there songs though.
"Who's in coma?" Loo frown. I laughed 'til my stomach ached.
"It's a Korean language which meant 'thank you'." I explained air quoting on the word thank you.
"Girl don't do that. They're so clichè." Ella frowns.
"No they're not!" I protest. I don't know why peoples hate them without even looking at them. Peoples can be judgely sometimes, true? Yup.
"Whatever, just don't do that around me." She waves it off.
"Rude." I mumbled.
"Come again!"she threatened.
"Nothing!" I said not wanting to get in a fight after all that happened. My mind is busy processing and analysing what just happened in there. Thanks to my mouth and inside voice. Correction, beast. Loo chuckles at Stella's achieved threat. Oh is this funny to you? I gave her a glance and she shrugg. Huh, I'm hungry! I need food to clear my mind.
We went to the cafeteria to get some dinner. We did some gossiping along with the food and back to dorm. We crashed as soon as we got in. It was a long day let's all admit.
The second week went quiet good except for those stupid proposals I've been receiving. Thanks to my inside voice that led me to it. I don't understand how smart students are dumb at the same time? I picked 6 candidates, 3 for president and the rest for vice president. But our director told me that I have no right to eliminate the rest. It wasn't my place. The crowd is the one responsible on picking the appropriate candidate so I agreed and simply we gave points to their proposals. The director picked the date and we've prepared all the necessary items we'll be needing at the final decisive day. I hope it goes well so I'll be done with everything.
Today was the last day of the week, not the week but the school's last day until ofcourse Monday. Friday! Yay! Let's be honest we all love Friday. My day started with a beautiful dream. I was wearing a sky blue dress with a red gown having hood like the one red riding hood had. I don't know if she's still wearing it. Anyways I was holding a picnic basket with my left hand swinging and humming to a song in a forest, I don't even know if that song exists. Wait did I just say forest? My God! What the hell I'm I doing in a forest? Alone! Someone called from the back. I turned my heels.
"Olive?" He called.
"Sage?" What is he doing in my dream? And is he wearing a fox costume? Oh my God is he the fox from the book?
"Where are you going?" He asks. I don't know, where I'm I going? I was about to speak when he jumps on me turning into a real fox. He isn't supposed to eat me now or do I look like the grandmother in red riding hood's story? I was surprised but I don't wanna die yet, I know it's just a dream but still. So I yelled incase I found someone who is willing to help. A voice echoed through my ears. If it wasn't mine, whose can it be? Oh oh I think it's Tarzan's since he lives in a jungle he might have seen me struggling not to be eaten by sage the fox. Smart, huh? The voice echoed again, it's a she's voice. I realized It wasn't in my dream so I opened my eyes and it rested on Laura who was flailing with the nightmare she's having. I forced myself into switching the lights on and concentrating. I shook her body lightly to wake her up. She gasped sitting straight.
"You okay?" I softly asked rubbing her back. She nod her head grabbing a bottle of water from her nightstand. After she took a sip she released a long breath trying to calm herself. I don't know what she's dealing with, struggling with or whatever she's suffering with, I want to help her.
"Do you wanna talk about it? I heard talking to someone will help for these types of issues." I tried to explain but she turned the offer down laying her head on the pillow. I wished her goodnight and went to my bed.
Mornings! My alarm chirped informing me my bed time was over. I groan not wanting to get up. I switched my alarm off and went to Loo's bed to wake her sleepy a*s. She wasn't there. The door opened.
"Hey sleepy head." Loo smirks all settled up dressed in maroon white gown. That's completely not so Loo. She waked her a*s before me? Wow she deserves an applause.
"You're early" I speak scratching my back which is giving the I just woke up information to Loo.
"Yes I am. Now go fix yourself before we run late and stop beating a guitar." She scolds implying my hand which was scratching my back. I chuckle and went to the bathroom. After 30 minutes of waste I run back to my room to find an angry Laura.
"What took you so long?" She scolds.
"I took a bath, brushed my teeth, fixed my hair, I was quite fast actually." I argue giving a slight smile.
"It took you 40 minutes!" She groan. I've started putting on my clothes.
"30" I corrected.
"It's not helping your case here." Grabbing her bag from the bed.
"Huh come on Loo how I'm I supposed to finish before 30 minutes?" I groan tying my shera shoes.
"By being fast." She frowns make it obvious.
"Give me a break." I scoff.
"I will but only after we're outta here." She opens the door for me and I got out giving her a cute smile. She rolled her eyes. I texted Ella to meet us at the cafeteria. When we arrived we met her at the door.
"Hey girls!" She gave us a tight hug. I don't know why but everytime she hugs me I found myself suffocated and complaining about it. Stella is a bit older than us. She told us she was 19 but still she looked older.
"If you continue doing this I might need to have a massage every weekend." I scold her. We all laughed and I earned a shove by Stella herself. We took our plates after the long line and sat on our spot. Seconds later someone called us from a distance.
"Guys!" She yelled. Patricia. I waved at her earning a kick from both.
"What?"I whine. They both faked a smile when she reached us.
"Patricia hey how are you?" I ask
"Dude I told you to call me pat! And thanks for asking, I'm fine. How was your week?" She asks sitting on the free space next to us.
"Sorry and it was good." I answered smiling. Ella and Loo already started talking ignoring me. That's what you get when you invite a stranger to your group with out getting a permission from the others. Pat pulled out her phone and started laughing. You know those laughs? The evil ones? She was doing it. When she took a glance at me I gave her a questioning look. She cleared her throat.
"You don't know what I just did." She giggled.
"Yeah I don't." I nod my head. A loud scream from the crowd snapped my head to the direction. While pat bursts into laughter.
"Why are you laugh...." my phone buzzes. Then Stella's and then everybody's. I looked at the crowd everyone was laughing looking at their phones. I quickly opened my phone and oh my God there's a video of a girl looking like a zombie with a voice of a robot saying 'I am stupid, I am so stupid, I got bitchy attitude....'. I remember the girl, she is that blonde we met at the board. I looked to Ella and Loo they were laughing hard so was the crowd. I heard another scream, I looked up and saw the girl storming out of the cafe with her puppets as Loo and Ella call them. I looked at the video again and laughed how stupid and funny the video was.
"Who ever did this I really wanna give them a kiss." Loo laughs.
"If I agree with the option you gave, it will be weird. Just buy me lunch that will be enough. Thank you." Pat smiles at Loo while we stared at her in shock.
"Did you...?" Pat covered my mouth with her hand trying to keep me quiet. "Hm hah?" I muffled through her hand. She releases me putting her index finger on her lips telling me to lower my voice.
"Did you do that?" I whispered and she sent me a wink. We looked at each other expecting that someone would say something but no one did so we shrugged and continue eating our food.
"I am stupid! I am so stupid!" Stella mocks pretending to be a robot. We all burst into laughter.
After finishing our plates we went to class. I needed to stop at my locker so I stayed behind. I opened my locker to grab a book. I couldn't reach it, since I wasn't wearing my heels I stood on tip of my toe to reach it.
"What is that?" A voice startled me making me jump and fall on my butt. I closed my eyes ready to feel the pain. Waiting....waiting....I haven't felt anything yet, I thought the floor wasn't far? I slowly opened my eyes and met a gorgeous specimen of a man kind giving me a slight smile. I blushed as he looked me intently. After 30 seconds of looking at each other's eyes he placed his finger under my chin making me look at him. He slowly starts leaning in. I closed my eyes bla bla blah. You thought this was going to happen, nope! That's in movies and fairytales. Such shits don't happen in real life. I FELT THE PAIN ON MY a*s!
"Dammit!" I cursed trying to hide the pain that was showing on my face.
"Here." He offered me a hand. What a gentleman! Please note the sarcasm. He was the one responsible for the situation. I got up collecting the books I dropped while falling ignoring his presence. I looked at his face and guess who, Mr. ARROGANT. Why is he everywhere following me like a ghost or something? I rolled my eyes giving him my back facing my locker trying to find what I was looking for. He reached at the book I was looking for and handed me. How did he know I was looking for it?
"Sorry to startle you but you haven't answered my question yet." He asked again. I felt my body getting numb at his question. I shook my mind trying to ignore the question and the painful memories. I felt warmth behind my back so I slowly turned and Sage was getting closer with worried face. The last thing I want is receiving a pity from a stranger.
"It's not a tattoo okay! So just leave me alone!" I snapped. But his face didn't change like he knows everything, like he's reading my mind seeing my past and everything. I hated it. I hated how he was looking at me.
"I know." That surprised me since I wasn't expecting it. "How did that happen?" He asked lightly lowering his voice. I looked at my top and cursed. I usually don't wear crop tops when I think of going outside. I remembered my morning, Loo was rushing me so I picked a random shirt and a pant I found near and just put it on. My mind went back to the scar on the lower part of my back. I flinched at the day I got it. I don't want to remember that day, if I had the power to clear memories, that day would've been my first to get rid of. I closed my eyes clearing all the flooding thoughts and met his eyes.
"I fall from a stair." I answered him. I turned to my locker slamming it shut. I walked away fastening my speed to get as far as I could from him right now. Thank God he didn't pressure me more.
My scar was different. It's pretty cool for a scar. It's thin at the beginning and ends up getting thick at the base. It goes a curve zigzag down to the end of my spine. To make it more clear it looks like a snake. That's why many stupid peoples think that I have a tattoo. In order to avoid stupid questions from stupid peoples I preferred covering it. I tug the hem of my top into my high waist Jeans.
I entered class trying to focus on my global affair teacher rambles. The teacher started talking about rivers and bla bla, I wasn't listening. Blue eyes came to vision. They looked tired yet strong, scared yet fearless, peaceful yet chaotic, worried yet careless. Tears covered my eyes. A sound woke me from my beautiful and painful thought. I looked to the direction and I saw Greck.
"Hey Olive, are you okay?" He whispered. He was sitting beside me to the left so I quickly wiped my tears and cleared my throat.
"Yeah, I just have allergies on some perfumes. Do you smell that?" Lie. I pretended to sniff on the air like there was strange presence of air. He sniffed following me but then shook his head. Because there wasn't any.
"It's not that strong but allergies are allergies, right?" I slightly smiled at him.
"Sure." He answered returning the same smile. I'm sure he didn't buy it but he let it slide. I appreciate what he did.
My day went partially well after the locker incident. Loo and Ella accepted pat as a friend since she humiliated there common enemy. After dinner Loo and Ella went to Pat's room to watch movies and have a girls night. I declined their offer politely by blaming a stupid headache and wanting to rest it off. They called me a party pooper at first but again they wished me a good night. After I entered my room I changed in to my comfy navy blue sweet pants and a buggie black and white sweater. I opened my cupboard and took out my red box A.K.A my grey memories. I grabbed my blue notebook and placed the box back to it's previous place. I made my self comfortable on the bed and opened the note book. I took out a pen which was hanging at the side of the notebook and started jotting down what was on my mind.
"My dear Joseph," I let out a sigh.
" You can't imagine how bad I've missed you. I hope you're doing well. How is Stanford? I know you're smart so I guess you're doing good. Well me, I am pretending to be great. After my little outburst at the meeting I've been receiving a little to much of an attention. You know I hate those things, but after you left I have been receiving more of those. How's Kate by the way? I hope they picked her at the beauty contest.
Mom and dad are doing great so stop worrying about them and just concentrate on your classes. I'm not ordering you I'm commanding you, synonyms huh? Anyways there is this kid in some of my classes he saw the scar..." the door opened making me jump, I slam closed what I was writing and hid it under my pillow. Loo was on her phone so she didn't see it.
"I thought you was a sleep?" She asked after taking a glance.
"Uh umm I was. I got thirsty so I woke up." Lie. I smiled grabbing a bottle from my nightstand sipping from it.
"You look weird." She speaks frowning.
"What?" I chuckled at her statement hiding my nervousness with a smile. "Why are you here? I thought you guys were spending the night at Pat's." I asked trying to change the subject. She let out a sigh and took a sit on the chair she found near.
"We were worried, they told me to check up on you. Here I am." She raised her hands in the air showing defeat. I softly chuckled, so cute.
"I'm fine now. I took a pill." I nod my head with a smile even if it was a lie.
"Okay then, I'm a call away if you need anything. Bye!" She closed the door behind her as she left.
"Bye." I responded even if she can't hear me. I took out my note book and continued my writing.
"I'll tell you about it soon, but for today I got to go. Live safe and laugh hard.
Sincerely yours,
Olive."
I closed my notebook and placed it back in my red box. I went back to my bed and closed my eyes thinking about the blue eyes. Soon I drifted.
Saturday! I love Saturday's. They're sunny, no school, no classes, you can go shopping, swimming, blah blah blah. Sorry but I love that word. For me Saturday's are the days I spend the whole time stuck in my bed. Sleeping, movies, pizza, hot chocolate, cheetos and then back to sleep. If I have assignments they need to wait until Sunday, exams weeks excluded though. I don't even mind taking a shower at Saturdays. But I don't stink so stop frowning.
The girls tried to get me out of bed blaming outside will be fun, but I refused so as they always do they ditched me and went by themselves. I'm glad though cause I got the chance to spend the whole day in my bed. I watched series movies, sitcoms, ate, generally I only got up to use the bathroom. When the clock hit 8 PM the girls arrived with junk foods. We ate while talking. After halfway through finishing our food Pat interrupts clearing her throat...
"Who wanna play truth or dare?" Her eyes widened in excitement while we all groan in exhaustion.
"Girl that's lame plus no boys are included also A-K-A boring." Stella groans rolling her eyes as she speaks the last word.
"And it's old school. Who even plays that these days." Loo adds biting her pizza slice and sucking her sauce dipped index finger of her other hand. Pat looked at me begging for help, I just shrugged.
"Okay let's play the first round and if it's boring we'll change to whatever you wanna play or do." She suggest hoping for an agreement. We looked at each other and no one disagreed.
"Okay." I speak while the others joined me with mouthful of their junks.
Pat grabbed an empty bottle to use it as a pointer. We sat in a circle position, bottle in the middle. Pat spun the bottle and guess who it pointed. Stella. Interesting.
"We've got an icebreaker huh?" Loo chuckles with mocking voice. Ella rolls her eyes while we laugh. Loo whispered something on Pat's ear and then mine. We laughed making Ella curious plus furious at a time.
"Spit it already!" She barks making us jump and burst with laughter.
"Kay," Loo clears her throat taking her time. "Tomorrow you will be doing our laundry while we watch movie on Netflix." She dared while Ella starts whining and complaining about it. Didn't work. Ella pouts and spun the bottle. Oh this is so interesting the bottle pointed Loo. We laughed hard guessing Ella's punishment for her.
"Hmm let's see.... what do we have here," she smirks an evil one while we chuckle. "I'm gonna take your black leather jacket that you adoooooore the most." She laughs raising her hand which is turned into a fist in victory. Loo yelled no but no wasn't taken as an answer so she's left with no choice. She got up opening her cupboard and gave her the jacket. Her face looked like she was about to fall tears any minute. Ella's dare hasn't finished yet.
"Pat and V pick whatever you wished." Ella orders putting on her now leather and leaning back admiring the view her dare brought her. We laughed while pat took Loo's hot grey maroon dress while me, I picked a navy blue pumps which she fought me on, but failed. After our little fun we sat back to our places and Loo spun the bottle and guess who's next, yes Pat. I wonder what her dare is going to be. Loo and Ella smirked while me and Pat was left alone on their no words talk. Loo whispered it for Pat making sure I wouldn't catch a word. And spun the bottle, wait is this even allowed?
"Wait wait,"I stopped them. "You didn't tell me what her dare was." I looked at them and they laughed except for Pat.
"What?" I asked again.
"You'll know on Monday." Ella speaks and cut me when I opened my mouth to argue. "No more questions!" With that we played for sometime without the bottle pointing at me. Weird right? But it didn't last long Ella's spun landed on me. They squeal while I groan.
"What do we have here?" Pat chuckled. They whispered something and faced me.
"What's it?" I sigh getting their point already.
"Call Sage." Loo speak with flat voice. I laughed hoping it was one of her stupid jokes. Their face was dead serious and it was enough for me to tell it wasn't a joke. What!
"What? Are you insane? How I'm I supposed to do that?" I flew my best escape questions, but with these girls around getting away is impossible. Their face was enough for everything.
"I don't even have his number." I whine. Ella took out her phone and typed what I think is a number on my phone and passed back my phone. Where did she get his number?
"Call him, talk whatever you want, we don't care, but you need to be on the line for 15 minutes." Loo orders. Hell to the no! I can't do that!
"What if I said no?" I asked wanting to look at my other option.
"And what? End up with a shaved head?" Pat scoffs. I want to keep my hair so why not?
I dialed to the number smirking at me on my phone book. After what the 3rd ring I heard the voice I despise from the other side.
"Hello?" A husky but sexy voice answered. From that I can figure he was sleeping. The girls told me to put the speaker on and I did as told.
"Hello?" He repeat wanting an answer. Who in the world would call a person he hates in the middle of the night? Me.
"Whoever this is, I can hear you breathing. Speak!" His voice getting thicker sending chills to my body. The girls waving at me to say something. Pat reminded me about the hair so I decided to speak up.
"Hey" my voice went seductively, didn't expect that. I was shocked while they laughed keeping their voice down.
"Olive?" He asked.
