Chapter 1

"Good Morning, Mom and Dad" I said putting my bag on the kitchen counter and sat on the dining table with them having their breakfasts quietly. Mom greeted me back with a smile while Dad nodded his head in acknowledgment. They both were fresh and ready to start their busy day. My mother looked at me and smiled approving my today's attire. Green knee-length skirt with loose white chiffon shirt tucked in it, my hairs down with loose curls, yellow and green strips band on top of my head tying my front hairs back. My mid-calf black ankle boots made her smile go wide because she loved dressing me up. She wasn't the mean-type mother you have pictured in your mind, it's just she was conscious of my dressing as I was the middle daughter of the head of the school making her conscious about making her children perfect to present. "Good Morning, everyone" Thomas greeted coming down from his room fresh with his bag wearing faded blue jeans and a white shirt with blasting neon jacket. He put his bag beside mine and plopped down next to me stealing my peanut butter toast. I fake glared at him which he replied with a flying kiss. Thomas and I were one year apart with an unbreakable bond between us, people used to think of us as twins in our Kindergarten as we used to dress up in code colors. I smiled taking other bread and applying peanut butter on it, for myself. "Thomas, I was checking your stats lately and you did a nice job. Well done" Dad appreciated him from behind the newspaper and Thomas choked on his juice, coughing uncontrollably and slapping his chest. I patted his back amused. Dad folded the corner of the newspaper and looked at him in disappointment then resumed reading the newspaper during breakfast. After recovering from his fits, Thomas cleared his throat and muttered a 'Thanks Dad'. I suppressed a smile at my overly excited brother because it wasn't very common for Dad to compliment someone. I gave Thomas a thumbs up which he returned by a cheeky grin. He was, practically, my life parrot you know that parrot in which somebody's soul is hidden. "Good Morning" Me and Thomas were on the verge of completing our breakfast when we heard Vivan's tired voice. She came into view in her signature attire: Light blue jeans, Pink sweatshirt and white converse. She sat in front of us and placed her bag on the empty chair beside her. "What is this behavior, Vivan? I am running late and here I am waiting for my last and lethargic child to show up on the breakfast table?" Dad scolded her, picking up his phone and keys and got up from the chair gesturing my mother to follow him. When he was out of sight, Vivan rolled her eyes in annoyance pouring juice for herself and murmured something incoherently. "Vivan, why are you so stubborn? And lazy?" Mother shook her head in disappointment and finished her juice, wiping her lips with tissues and got up. "I slept in, Mom. Ok? I don't know, how. All I know is that my alarm went off and I didn't know" Vivan said gulping a full glass of juice in two shifts. Mom scrunched her nose in a lack of her manners but said nothing. She expected us to behave properly but Viv was always two steps ahead in breaking rules as she had mine and Tom's full support so Mom was unable to improve her. "I'll see you guys in school and be there on time. I don't want people saying that head's children have perks. Am I clear?" Mother asked looking at us for an answer. We said 'Crystal' in unison and Mom left. Vivan released a breath I didn't know she was holding and leaned her arm on the table putting her head on it, groaning. "You have a hangover" Thomas deadpanned smirking at her leaning against his chair, lazily. My eyes went wide and I looked at her, for her to deny but she didn't even look up and muttered "No s**t, Sherlock" I gasped because she didn't refuse "What?" "Please, Vi (pronounced as 'Why or Y') Now don't be a silly mummy-daddy girl and spill your beans to Mom and Dad," Vivian muttered I turned my head to Thomas who was looking at his phone after finishing his breakfast. He looked up and shrugged then went back to scrolling "You knew?" I narrowed my eyes at him who looked up from the screen and grinned at me making the peace sign with two fingers. "I was on the mission of transporting her safely to her bedroom last night." He winked at me earning a slap on the arm from me. I got up and washed my hands in the kitchen sink. "Come on, lazy. Eat up and come outside. We are waiting for you outside" I returned to Thomas poking her before picking up our bags and made his way outside. I looked at a large roman counting clock in the living room from the kitchen door. "Viv, we have twenty minutes for school. Get up" I shook her shoulder. She sat up and thrust a boiled egg in her mouth, eyes closed. I shook my head and greeted the housemaid before going outside. On my way out, I put my brown overcoat and cap to prevent freezing from the outside temperature. Outside, I saw Thomas leaning against his Porsche typing on his phone. I marched to him and leaned against the car. "You shouldn't be favoring Vivan" I said looking at our freshly mowed lawn which looked more fresh due to early morning rain. I love greenery as I had our whole backyard to myself for gardening and whatever, where Viv used to do her i********: photography and Tom played with his cat. "It's her days of chilling. Let her Chill, Vi" Thomas said putting his phone in his neon jacket. I tilted my head to look at him, unbelievingly and pulled his fur cap in a teasing manner. "You know, Mom will freak out and Dad will hold her grounded" I showed him the consequences but he scoffed looking at me and adjusted his hairs by looking at the phone camera. "Don't be a grandma, Vi. We'll see when that happens. We don't get to live our life. Let Vivan live hers" He said pulling me to him by his arms around my shoulder and snatched his cap from me. I looked at him confused as to why was he talking depressed all of a sudden. "Tom, we ARE living our life." I tried to reason to which he rolled his eyes and put on his cap, chuckling. "Ahan? How many people are in your friend circle?" He asked raising his brow. Uh-oh. I knew where it was heading. In school, people love to befriend someone with authority like us, in their eyes, but we both were socially awkward and wasn't out-going like our little monster So I cleared my throat and replied "One" Tom laughed and leaned forward "And who that would be?" "You" I pushed him away when he laughed to embarrass and made my way to the passenger seat when the front door opened, Tom was putting on his seat belt when we saw Vivian running like her life depended on it. "What has gotten in her pants?" Tom mused looking at her "A Cactus, maybe?" I chuckled amusedly. Vivan sprinted to the car, opening the back door, rushing in and patting Tom's shoulder in a hurry. "Drive, Drive, Drive!" Tom who had turned on the car put the car on the drive. I turned my head to look at her "Why, What happened?" I asked looking at her breathing abnormally leaning against the seat laying on it. "I lit a firecracker in Mr. Blue eyes' basket" I heard Tom took in a breath. Mr. Blue eyes was Tom's cat, whom he loved so much and, was afraid of mouses and firecrackers. I laughed turning my direction to the road but Tom had his plans. He started scolding Vivan who had put on her headphones and was mimicking Tom's style of speaking with her hands, I laughed looking at her through the rear-view mirror. Kids. I rolled my eyes. Upon reaching, Tom parked his car in the parking lot, we were outside the car within minutes and we still had five minutes to the first bell. Vivan waved us goodbye and kissed Tom's cheek, who was still pissed at her but grabbed her by shoulder making her face him. "We are on school premises-" "-Yeah. Yeah. and you won't be responsible for my actions and I should behave. And shouldn't be involved in things that I can't shake off later. I know, big brother, everything" Tom's words were being cut by Vivan's boring attitude and she fled away the very next moment. "Sometimes, I feel like I am not a big brother but a full-time soldier" Tom shook his head looking toward Vivan's direction whose bright red hairs were prominent in a circle of excited and popular girls. I rolled my eyes and made my way inside. "You have spoiled her way too much. Just saying" I said and he fell in steps with me making his way to lockers with me. He smacked my shoulder a little and laughed. "She is my baby girl, my daughter" That was the universal answer to our every argument related to Vivan. Vivan wasn't the spoiled brat type girl. She was more of an attention-seeker type. She loved drama but all of her encounters, she never started one. It was just drama that loved her way too much. She was composed and used more of her position, being head's daughter than me and Tom. Meaning: She was known to every single human being of this School, from Janitor and guards to Vice-Principal that there was a bright red hair girl who involved in every fuss in School but somehow managed to escape Mother's scolding. She loved partying, wandering and going on trips but never involved in any boy. She knew her limits but still she managed to enjoy every aspect of life living in her limits. That's Vivan Rain Somerhalder for you "Hey, Violet." I saw a boy around my age with blonde hair leaning against my locker, probably waiting for me. I smiled at him a little and gestured him to move away from a little. He moved back and scratched the back of his neck glancing at Tom. "Yes? What is it?" I asked finishing with my locker and grabbed my Graphics Designing book from my bag. He glanced at Tom and then cleared his throat. "I am Brent" he extended his hand which I was never going to shook due to all sweat shining on his palm but Tom shook it anyway then pulled a face upon realizing. I rolled my eyes at Tom. "And I am Thomas Somerhalder" he introduced himself to the very nervous boy. Then he pulled his hand back quickly. "Nala told me about you, she said you can help me with Music. Can you... Um...help me with the Music?" He asked grabbing his bag's strap tightly in his hand. "Well, Ok. Find me whenever you get free" I said walking past him with Tom trailing behind me when I heard 'Thank you' from behind me. I looked at Tom in question. "Why are you following me? Go to your class" I said shoving him with my hand but he came back again. "Like you, I also have only one friend. YOU! Second, I wanted to see your 'Social services act' today. Don't you get tired of tutoring random people of school for free because I sure the hell do just seeing you? I swear I have never seen that sweaty boy before" Tom continued talking when we were ascending stairs and wiping his hand with a napkin, disgusted. I looked in front of me to see the large pool of students looking for classes, talking with their friends and all... "Well, they asked for a favor which I should return. No?. Besides if they get good grades, our school reputation will go up high to the sky!" I mocked enthusiastically in the last and slapped his arm. "Now go, go to your class" he pushed my hand away. "Excuse me Vi. I am going to my class 'Digital Marketing' right next to yours. Don't flatter yourself thinking that I was walking you to your class because I wouldn't" He said poking his tongue at me and ran to his class in Zig Zag manner avoiding bumping into kids in the hallway. I giggled and walked to my class' door seeing two girls on the door perhaps waiting for me. "Thank God, Violet. You are here, I was freaking out about the assignment Mr.Tomlinson gave us because I didn't complete it. Can you help me with it?" The girl with pink hair started but when she finished the bell rang indicating class had started. I shrugged helplessly as her face fell listening to the bell. Mr. Tomlinson was one good and punctual professor. He gave us the assignment of making Logo of the 'Foodly Everafter" restaurant. The blue-haired girl shook her head in disappointment upon seeing Mr. Tomlinson and we made way to class. I sat on the first seat in front of the teacher's desk and placed a heavy book on the table, turning on the computer. "Don't make a noise now." Mr.Tomlinson started with his signature line. "I have received plenty of emails last night, none of them were assignments except Violet, Ian and Elif. Ruby Green, stand up and enlighten the whole class about your mail." The whole class turned to look at Ruby, also the blue-haired girl I met outside. She stood up and crossed her arms over her chest glaring at Mr.Tomlinson, who was leaning against his table crossing his one feet on the other, looking straightly in her eyes. "Ruby, Emerald, Neon, Nisan, Tom, Blake and Nena. Get out of the class and your suspension letter from my class has already been delivered to your parents along with reasons." He said standing up straight and circling his table to stood on Rostrum, opening his laptop. The students with respective names groaned and protested but one glare and they were out of class within a minute. "Violet, Ian and Elif, I am giving you extra credit this semester" Mr. Tomlinson said glancing at us and I nodded my head in acknowledgment. He then proceeded with his lecture. "And the rest of you, another chance to submit your work instead of emailing me logics of my failed teaching way like those idiots outside. Am I clear?" he glanced at class then started his class. ... "Vi, is that you?" I heard a voice from behind and sat up from my previous position, head on my knees sitting on floor tracing patterns on two inches down the ground. I smiled at Tom as he approached me and sat next to me, sighing. "What are you doing here?" he asked sitting down with me with his bag on the ground. I shrugged pointing my thumb to the cafeteria behind us. He turned to look at the crowded cafeteria then back at me. "I also don't feel like eating right now" I added to which he chuckled because he knew that I was lying. "What are you doing here?" I asked looking at him. "I went in then ran out because it is suffocating in there. I wanted a shake right now" Tom said groaning and putting his head on his knees. I chuckled and patted his shoulder with little force. He tilted his head and pushed me away glaring. "Seriously, Tom? Dive in, take a shake and rushed out. Simple as that but it's okay I have 'KitKat' for you" I said shuffling my things in the bag and retrieved a 'KitKat' and tore it into half before giving him, which he snatched from me and immediately started munching on it. "Hello, suckers!" I saw Vivan waving at us from a distance and nudged Tom's shoulder. She came to us and gave Tom her Chocolate Milkshake. "I knew you would be starving yourself instead of going in. Sometimes, I feel like I am a sister of weirdos. One is a hot and sexy hunk, who is 'arrogant' enough to acknowledge any girl on his way. Second is perfect daughter and mentor for every single student of this school, no matter what age." She has already started her nonstop talking train but immediately cut off by her friend calling her. "Okay, gotta go but don't starve yourself to death. Gee, what would you guys do without me?" She said flicking her red hairs and disappeared within seconds. "Is she our sister or Did our parents adopt her?" I asked looking at her retreating figure to her group of 'popular' friends. Tom laughed and took his phone out to see a text. I couldn't say it due to the sun shining on his screen. "I gotta go, Vi. I have a meeting with a friend" I looked at him surprised and amused who has passed his half milkshake to me. "Friend?" I raised my brow in amusement, seeing him fumbling with his bag and they got up giving me his shake. "Yeah, a new guy in school. He sat next to me in AP and a very cool guy. See you later, Vi" I nodded my head and saw his yellow jacket running around people, avoided bumping and hugged a guy with black messy hairs. I turned to my Ipad and started the music. I had this Cheshire cat smile on my face, happy with the fact that Tom had made some friends. Finally!
