Chapter 11

Abraham's POV: "Mason?" I rushed to him who just stepped out of Violet's room. He closed the door slowly and patted my shoulder. "I am sorry, black" My concerned eyes flipped to instant kill mode as I pushed him against the closed door with my hands on his throat. "What do you mean by sorry?! Mason, I want her by my side" Vivian pushed me by putting pressure on my chest, glaring at me. She then turned to Mason who was breathing heavily doubling over his knee. I wanted to smash his face. "Doc?" Vivian helped him up and questioned him. "Is she stable?" "Yes, she is asleep due to tranquilizers, she will feel good after." Vivian let out a sigh but I had other plans. "I just don't want her stable, I want her to f*****g remember me too!" I whispered-yelled at him. Mason patted my shoulder to calm down. "I know, black and I am trying, trust me. But she needs time" He passed me and disappeared in a random hallway. I am glad he did because, otherwise, I would break one or maybe two of his bones. At the same time clicking of heels and pair of rushed footsteps got our attention. "Cool down, Abraham" Vivian muttered beside me looking at her parents, nervously. But I could practically see laser directed to me as her mother stopped in front of me. "What did you do?" And there she was, two inches away from my face with a murderous look, her mother, Rose Somerhalder. I let out a sarcastic chuckle, shook my head turning around, and sat on a chair outside the room. "Mom, she had a panic attack, now she is stable" Vivian caught her attention but she didn't stop glaring at me. Her dad went to the doctor straight away. "YES! BECAUSE OF HIM!" she pointed her accusing finger to me. She was always this after the incident, hating me, accusing me but I could care less about her. "He was in school, right?" she shouted at Vivian who had her head hung down, afraid. "Vivian, I gave you one thing to take care of and you failed terribly! You are a pathetic excuse of a daughter and a sister" she hissed jerking her arm, time-to-time. It wasn't her fault but Rose was blind enough to see that. I stood up and neared them. "You cannot talk to her like that" I spat putting my arm over Vivian's shoulder who was shaking continuously. She had no right to treat her like that. Vivian moved out of my grasp and sat a few meters away, where I was. "You better not involve yourself into our matter" Rose held her finger to me in threat, poking my chest with it. "I pity you, Rose" I pushed her finger away and walked to sat near Vivian. Rose stormed inside the room after shooting daggers at us. The moment she stepped in, Vivian broke into sobs collapsing in my chest. I moved my arms to wrap them around her and placed my chin on her head, soothing her. She was the dearest thing to me after Violet and it hurt me seeing her cry like this. Over time, we grew close to each other as we shared everything with each other. After the incident when her mother abandoned my presence to everyone, we chatted online where she would tell me about Violet and other happenings. People thought of her as 'mean girl', 'Sabotage Vivian' and 'Popular girl' but to me, she was little Vivian who came to me for everything, even when her ice-cream knocked down by someone I would buy her two just to see her happy. Whenever she went into trouble, she used to call me before Thomas to take care of it. But nobody knew, for them, she was just 'Spoiled brat' who got away easily without any fuss. "She hates me" Vivian muttered in my chest that broke my heart. I opened my eyes to see the Blondie approaching, who was with Voilet yesterday morning, along with Matthew and two girls. I pulled back from her and cupped her cheeks. "There are more who love you" I wiped her tears away, just in time Blondie kneeled in front of her. "Vivi?" he held her hands catching her attention. She quickly cleared her face after putting a smile, painful one. "What happened, baby? Is Violet okay? Why are you crying?" he asked in one breath, glancing at me with a disturbed look on his face. I settled back in my chair and leaned against it, closing my eyes, resting my head on the wall behind. "She's stable, just sleeping" I heard her getting up as footsteps approached. "Dad, what did the doctor said?" so, it was Richard. I stayed in my position, just opened my eyes to see him looking at me with pity. "She is alright but she has to stay here for proper care, at least a week. And..." he came to sit beside me. "he wants that nobody mentions her past to her, I repeat, no one, until she is good to handle everything." he put a hand on my knee. I knew what was coming as I kept looking at him from my position, blank-faced. "I want you out of her sight, I know it's hard for you son" Richard patted my knee. I looked briefly at Vivian who got the hint and pushed everybody in the room, leaving me and Richard in the cold hallway. "Five. f*****g. Years" I uttered closing my eyes. "I waited for five years for her. You wanted me gone, I never looked back because I blamed myself for what happened to her. But after five years I saw my light of living and you want me out again?" I chuckled humorlessly. I remembered our first encounter after five years, I didn't recognize her, she was grown up to the most beautiful lady I had ever seen. I thought she was some random girl, came for my dad as his escort that was why I treated her harshly. But later at her home, I came to know about her. Richard said nothing but I could sense his hand on my knee. I opened my eyes and stood up zipping my jacket, a habit I developed living with Violet, wearing jackets. "I gave you five f*****g years to heal her but now she doesn't even... remember me? I love her so much but not enough to let her forget me, I ain't leaving her now. Not a chance. I will make her remember me, piece by piece. Everything. That is how it's destined to be, right? She is mine and I am hers. That's how it works, Richard" I went to the door and saw her sleeping peacefully through the see-throughout hole. I was not leaving her, that was for sure. I took a deep breath and turned to leave. "I approve you, son" A sad smile crept on my lips remembering how he despised me before that incident. I gave him a curt nod and made my way to the lift. ... The thumping sound of throwing something on the floor, the smashing voices and yelling were unbearable for any f*****g soul, but some are immune to it when it happened daily to them. So I laid there counting holes on my ceiling waiting for it to end. I never was suicidal but things like these made me kill myself every day with just a paper cutter, on my side table. To distract myself, I switched on my phone and decided to call Vivian but a notification popped up gaining my attention. "I need you"                                     "Where?" "Yours" I got up immediately putting a shirt on, changing the bottoms to random pair before coming out of the room. I picked my keys, shoes, and mobile on my way out to a devastated living room. There were shreds of glasses, a wooden table was smashed into TV, broken cutlery and unseamed pieces of clothes. I peaked in the kitchen to see mother and father arguing loudly, they paused looking t me then resumed bawling at each other. I stood there for ten seconds leaning against the doorway to watch the show. "YOU w***e CHEATED ON ME AND NOW LEAVING WITH MY SONS!" he tried to slap her with all his strength which she blocked out and twisted his arm in return. "I am leaving this pathetic life where we starve because your whores strip seeing money, you bastard" she jerked him away earning a yelp from him. "Don't you dare raise your voice. I am the man here" Father yelled back smashing the weak wooden dining table on the ground. Mother let out a humorless chuckle. "The man? Tuff." she spat on the ground beside her. "I am the one who raised them, nurtured them while you were busy f*****g some shitty girl on a roadside bar" She exclaimed putting all her nerves in it. "You didn't, your boss did. Why would RICHARD SOMERHALDER, the mighty, give you that high post?" he smirked nearing her. "You f****d him for favors and-" The slap shut his mouth and I was pretty much sure, I saw specks of blood on his lips. Good Job! I mentally praised her. "It is true, my dear Karen" he had her hairs in her hands within the next moment. "He cares about you, he gave the scholarship to your f*****g son and he is now offering you a better place to live? This place is not good for his s****l reputation, right? He has to come through these broken roads to f**k you " Another spat from my mother but this time, on the face. Hah! "I have filed a domestic violence case against you, so if you touch me, you are dead. Also, that apartment is mine, Richard doesn't know." she hissed pulling back from his grip. I turned when the show ended, as my mother picked her purse from the ground, I saw a scared Otis peaking out from half-closed bedroom door. I flicked my finger to him to call him near me. He kept looking out with a scared look on his face. "Tell me, Karen, did you suck his coc-" my father barked coming out behind her. "Brian Otis Lombardi" I called his name loudly glaring at them to divert their attention. Father stormed out behind my mother. Otis opened the door and stepped out in baby steps. I sat down on the chair in front of him and held his hands in mine. "You heard nothing" I stated sternly to which he nodded, looking down. I placed my finger under his chin to make him face me. "Otis, you are the bravest boy. You can handle anything. ANYTHING. Forget about Dad and move on." I tried to teach him something but he remained confused. "Look, you are the man now. You have to take care of Mum. ok?" I looked at him in anticipation. He looked at me with his grey eyes, one thing common in us, with his lower lip quivering. "Dad is a man and he hit mom" he muttered ready to cry. I shook my head at him and made him sit on my right thigh. "Never hit a woman. Ok? Dad is a coward so he hit us but you are brave. Ok?" he nodded playing with my fingers with both hands. Violet used to do that very often, OH Violet. I sighed deeply. "I don't want to leave you" Otis muttered after a short pause. I let out a laugh remembering his hesitation so that was why he was hesitating. I pulled him into the hug. "I am big. I can handle everything. I have so many things to take care of that's why I am staying. But you can call me, you know my number. I can even meet you at your school whenever you say. Do good in school and don't let anybody intimidate you, ok. It's you I am worried about." I asked for his approval after pulling back. "Your brother will be with you. and you have mom, too. so be good to them ok?" I got up and adjusted him to give him a piggyback ride he loved. "Actually, AB" he muttered wrapping his arms around my neck. "I texted Violet from your phone" he hid his face in my neck, halting my steps. He did what? "When?" I asked with pure shock. "Where did you get her number?" "Last night" he mussitated. She was asking about the text but I was clueless. "I asked Viv for it" I resumed our journey to the taxi outside where mother was waiting for us alone. I placed Otis down, kissed his cheek then hugged mother before going to my car. I fished out a constantly ringing phone when I hit the road. "What?!" I barked without looking. On the other side was Vivian as she whispered "Violet wants you" My heart drowned. DHUN DHUN DHUN!
