  Shane wanted to let Evan's words soothe the guilt that he was feeling. But no matter how badly he tried to believe them, he still felt that dark emotion eating at his gut.   "Evan's right. Assigning blame and guilt won't get us anywhere. We need to head out and do our jobs," Shane finally ended the conversation.   Shane stopped Carson before he climbed into the passenger seat.
