Julie stiffened in his arms as her jumbled thoughts and emotions clashed. She wanted him to hold her so badly, to continue hearing his voice in her ear. Julie was desperate to feel his hands on her, not sexually, just to know Julie was not as alone. But she didn't ask for any of it, not understanding why she felt so needy and vulnerable. It embarrassed her, and she wanted to run and hide until the walls were back, but Dax was not letting her go.
"Relax, baby girl. You did well tonight. Just relax against me," Dax encouraged her as he pulled her back against his chest.
Julie let him hold her close but kept her back stiff, intent on just enduring it until he let her go.
"What's wrong?" Dax asked, sounding like he knew the answer even if Julie didn't.
