It took all of Shane's control and strength not to grab Julie and hold her again. He hated how small she looked, standing in the middle of the makeshift road surrounded by the men who had tried to kidnap her.
Damn, he wished that Dax was here with him. He was so often the voice of reality, and Shane desperately needed that. Dax would definitely be the first to remind Shane that it was too damned dangerous to fall in love with a woman like Julie. His life was not prepared for someone like her and certainly not someone permanent. Julie was the kind of woman that any sane man would want to keep… hell, he wanted to keep her tightly between him and Dax and never let her go. She was amazing when she was between them as if she belonged.
"Focus," Shane growled at himself under his breath.
