Chapter 11

1223 Words
Lessie's POV After showering them with hugs and kisses, I still found James and Jasmine clinging tightly to me. "Alright, that's enough," I said, gently peeling them off as I stood up. "Are you hungry?" I asked, knowing it had been hours since their morning meal, and after all their play, they must be feeling hungry by now. "Yes, Mommy," they both nodded, and I glanced around. Thankfully, the spacious room had a small kitchen; otherwise, relying on hotel meals all the time would have been a bother. "Okay, Mommy will make us something to eat," I said, heading towards the kitchen. But James suddenly spoke up. "Mommy, you're going to cook?" he asked, and I casually nodded without turning around. "But where are the groceries?" he added. I quickly turned back, clicking my tongue in realization. "Oops! I can't believe I remembered to buy my dress and other goodies but forgot the groceries," I said, feeling a bit embarrassed. The kids burst out laughing at my forgetfulness. "You're laughing at me?" I teased, feeling even more pitiful at their giggles. "Heh," I sighed playfully. Once their laughter subsided, James had a suggestion. "Mommy, we can just eat the hotel meal today, and tomorrow we can go get groceries." I hesitated, not too fond of them eating hotel meals often, but he was right. It was better to eat what was available now and stock up later. "Alright," I agreed. After making the decision, I picked up the phone next to the bed and called the front desk. "Hello, can you send meals to room 103?" I requested before hanging up. Since it would take some time for the food to arrive, I lay back down on the bed. The kids joined me, and soon, Jasmine snuggled closer, with James doing the same. "Mommy, when is the nanny coming?" Jasmine suddenly asked. "Oh, it totally slipped my mind to check if she's arrived in the city yet. Let me call her now," I said, reaching for my phone. But just as I was about to dial, a call came through—it was from Nanny Adele. "Heh, I was just thinking about you! Where are you?" I asked. "I just got off the plane, ma'am. Could you please send me the address?" she replied. "Of course," I said, quickly forwarding her the hotel's address. "Your nanny will be here soon," I assured the kids, and they smiled, cuddling closer. About an hour later, the room phone rang. It was the receptionist letting me know that Nanny Adele had arrived. "Please send her up," I said, hanging up. "Mommy, who's that?" Jasmine asked curiously. "Your nanny. She's here," I replied. "Really?" Jasmine quickly jumped off the bed, her eyes fixed on the door. "Yes," I said, and as soon as I nodded, there was a knock. Before I could even get up, Jasmine's little legs had already rushed to open the door. Nanny Adele walked in, greeted by Jasmine's excited shout, "Nanny!" She hugged Jasmine while rolling her small suitcase inside. Thankfully, the room was spacious; otherwise, it would have felt cramped with all of us. With Nanny Adele's arrival, the atmosphere became lively. Shortly after, the food arrived, and we all enjoyed our meal together. Nanny Adele spent the rest of the evening playing with the kids until we all went to bed. The next day, Benjamin arrived in the city, which was also the day of the company's social event. He had called earlier, and we agreed to meet up at the event. When evening came, as I was scrolling through my phone, I suddenly noticed the two kids standing in front of me with their nanny. "What's up, babies?" I asked, a bit puzzled. Jasmine gave me a mischievous smile. "Nothing, Mommy," she replied slyly. I shook my head, not convinced. I knew that smile too well; it wasn't her usual innocent one. "Tell me, baby?" I turned to James, hoping he'd reveal the secret. "Mommy, come sit here," James said, guiding me over to the mirror, which caught me by surprise. I looked up at Nanny Adele. "What's this about? Why the mirror?" I asked, still confused. Thankfully, Nanny Adele stepped in to explain. "I heard from the kids that you're attending a party tonight." “Mmm?” “So, the kids want you all dolled up and shining at the party,” she continued, and I gasped, finally understanding what was happening. It was only then I noticed the combs and beauty masks in her hands. “Babies—” I looked down at the kids, intending to refuse, but their eager, hopeful eyes made it impossible for me to say no. “Okay.” “Yes! That’s our mommy!” They both jumped up, all excited, and I chuckled. I sat on the stool facing the mirror, watching as Nanny Adele worked her magic on my face. I wasn’t surprised by her makeover skills, I already knew how talented she was, but my kids were in awe, gasping and showering her with praise. By the time we finished, it was already evening. I slipped into my dinner gown and stepped out of the bathroom. “Wow, Mommy is the most beautiful!” Jasmine’s eyes sparkled as she looked at me. I laughed, feeling delighted by her praise. “And my babies are the most beautiful babies ever!” I bent down to their height, patting their heads lovingly before turning to Nanny Adele. “Take care of them. I might be back late.” It was a night party, and I wasn’t sure how long it would last. Nanny Adele nodded, and I headed out to the party. When I arrived at the entrance, I watched as cars pulled up and important guests stepped out. I was about to go in when I noticed that everyone was showing their invite card to the security. I didn’t have one. Just as I took out my phone to call Benjamin, his name flashed on my screen. He was calling me. “Hey, are you here already?” he asked. “Yes,” I replied with a nod. “Okay. Someone will bring your invite to you now,” Benjamin said before hanging up. I looked towards the entrance, waiting. Two minutes later, I spotted one of my colleagues searching for me. “Over here, over here!” I waved my hands, and when she saw me, she smiled and approached with an appreciative look. “Ahem, ahem.” “Lessie, you look absolutely stunning,” she said with a gasp. I smiled, appreciating the compliment. “Thank you.” She was about to continue, but I cut her off and asked politely. “Where’s the card?” She handed it to me, and we both entered the hall. The hall was packed with prominent men and women. I quickly followed my colleague to join the others, but I couldn’t ignore the admiring stares directed at me. Those little rascals had made sure I dressed to impress, and now I had to endure all the attention. As we approached our table, I suddenly overheard someone say, “Mr. Green is invited too.” That name sent a chill down my spine. “Freddie will be here?!” I gasped in disbelief.
