Ashure followed Dan out of the office. The two deputies and a woman looked up at them with startled expressions. Dan grabbed Ashure’s arm and nodded to the group. One of the men stood up with a frown. “Is everything okay, Dan?” the man asked. Dan nodded. “Yes, everything’s fine. I received a call from the Sheriff’s department.
