CHAPTER ELEVEN The correspondence club we joined had its office in New Jersey, but I believe every state in the Union was represented in the magazine they sent us. Some foreign countries were listed, too. It was a thick, full-sized magazine, with well over a hundred pages -- each page packed with ads placed by couples, gals, and guys. There was a lot of ads from people living in Texas, and a few for New Mexico and Arizona Our ad wasn't in the first magazine we received, though it did appear in the next issue which we got a little more than three months later. Willa and I read the first magazine in bed. The ads were listed under the states in which the persons lived, we soon discovered, and Willa got a red ballpoint pen which we used to mark the Southwest ads we thought were interesting.
