What in the...

“What the hell is going on Gideon?”  Jaxon’s voice vibrated through my mind, sharing the same confusion and worry that both I and Loki were currently feeling.   “Oh my, you’re the one…”  A woman with short brown curls and dark caramel-colored eyes was muttering as she stepped closer to Lenora.   “Are you sure Nadia?”  Lenora’s uncle, Alpha Leonard, asked hesitantly as he stepped up beside Nadia.   “The signs are there.”  Nadia said cryptically as she stepped ever closer to my frowning mate.  I pulled her closer to me, wrapping my arms around her and glaring over my head at the people closing in on her.    “Back up.”  I commanded, staring Alpha Leonard down when his eyes met mine in challenge.  “As of now, Lenora is my mate, I do not care what else has come to light, at this time she is mine and I will protect her as such, and all of you crowding her is making her nervous.  She has been through a lot tonight; can we please go in and allow her and her mother to rest?”   Leonard and Nadia exchanged a loaded look, but the Alpha ended up nodding his head in agreement and asking his pack and family members to clear out and head home for the night.  It was exceedingly late, or early depending on how you choose to look at it, and everyone would need their rest to be ready for the day to come.   “What about those waiting outside our gates Alpha Leonard?”  The same guard as earlier asked, once more drawing the eyes of everyone in the courtyard to him.  The attention must have made him nervous because he began shifting back and forth between his feet.   “Oh yes…”  Alpha Leonard replied absently, a hand rubbing his rough jaw in consternation.  “Well, I guess they should camp out for the night and hope I am feeling up to company in the morning or go to a local in outside my packs lands and rent a room.  I don’t take kindly to unannounced visitors that aren’t family.”  He added the last bit with a wink to Lenora, helping her to feel at ease even with the craziness that had surrounded her for the night.  “Alright, off to bed everyone.  Lenora, you and your mother come with me, I’ll show you to the Alpha floor and the bedroom’s we were readying just for your arrival.”   “Thank you, Uncle,” Lenora said as she made to move from my arms, but I wasn’t ready to release her yet, tightening my hold instead.  She looked up at me in question, her hands moving up to rest on my bare forearms, sparks flying at our touch and making my heart rate pick up, same as hers.   I didn’t care how many mates the Moon Goddess gave her, she was mine, and I’d fight to keep her.  “Prince Gideon?”   “Just Gideon to you my dear.”  I whispered against her hair as I pressed my lips to the back of her head.  “I would rather Ora not leave my sight, she’s my mate and I would feel better if I were there to protect her, just in case.”   “Are you trying to hint at something?  My pack as been unbreeched by enemies in over fifty years, and those who dare to try, do not get far.”  Alpha Leonard’s voice sounded less then friendly now, my words having pricked his pride.   “I understand this, but as a Royal Princess-“ I began to argue, but I was cut off by Lenora raising her hand in front of me.   “I am not a Royal Princess, I am Lenora Hall, daughter of Derek Hall, member of Silent Silver by blood.  I have just met my family for the first time, and you think you get to dictate what I can do?  Who I can be around without you?”  Lenora’s hands clasped my wrists and pulled my arms from around her, stepping away from me she spun to face me with fire in her eyes, but I had no idea what I had said to work her up so much.  “I have not accepted you as my mate, in fact, I am not even of age yet to accept a mate, so please stop acting like you own me or my choices.”  With that she spun away from me and marched towards the pack house doors with her mother hurrying along behind her and her uncle now striding beside her, after first flashing me an amused but triumphant smirk.   What in the hell just happened?   Jaxon stepped up beside me with Catherine in his arms, both laughing as they watched my mate happily leave me in the dust.    “Oh I like her.”  Jaxon said as Lenora and her family disappeared into the packhouse, leaving us on the lawn with just a few guards and a couple she-wolves who seemed to be eyeing me with a look I did not particularly want to continue experiencing.   “Me too.”  Gathered chuckled.   “Screw you both.”  I muttered, reaching back into the SUV and grabbing my jacket out to slid over my arms, I wasn’t a fan of being ogled and the extra layer of clothing made feel a bit more secure.  “I’m starving and exhausted, lets just get some food in our symptoms, a good night’s sleep, and figure out all of this… what ever in the world it is, in the morning.”  Jaxon and Catherine nodded in agreement, and we all made to follow my mate and her family inside.  As an afterthought, I stopped in my tracks and turned to the guard who’d informed us the Alpha’s were at the gates.  “Just out of curiosity, which Alpha’s followed us here?”   “Alpha Taelin of River Red, Alpha Jorrie of Silver Horizon and Alpha Scottie of Emerald Wood.”  The nervous guard answered quickly before turning to leave.   “s**t, Taelin and Jorrie?  Their packs just under Silent Silver when it comes to power and wealth?”  Jaxon asked in awe as we all began our way back towards the pack house.   “One Omega mated to 5 powerful Alphas?”  Catherine whispered, sliding her hand into Jaxon’s.   “It’s 6 Alphas Catherine, not 5.” Jaxon’s interjected as he pulled open the front door for his mate and held it as she walked through, stopping to flash him a smirk.   “I said five powerful Alphas Jax, we all know Knox is anything but powerful.”  She sauntered through the door leaving me and Jaxon to stand there laughing as we followed behind her.   “She has got you there Jaxon.”  I chuckled, looking around the large foyer and the hall beyond for anyone who could help us figure out what we were doing or where we were supposed to go.   “I know, and I could not agree more with my highly intelligent little mate.”  Jaxon purred leaning into kiss Catherine, which I turned away from to avoid witnessing.   “Hello?  Is there anyone around who can assist us?”  I called down the hallway.  My eyes wandered up the wide staircase I knew would lead to the Alpha floor and my mate beyond, but I had to respect her Uncle’s territory and I wanted to show her that I respected her and her decisions, so I stood there, in the middle of the foyer, waiting for any assistance I could get, while all I really wanted to do was hunt down my mate, throw her over my shoulder, and fly her back to my country and territory so that no one would have the opportunity to claim what was mine.   “Hi!  Welcome to Silent Silver, I understand you had a long journey and may be hungry, so please follow me to the dinning hall and I’ll show you to the rooms we are having prepared soon after.” A little Omega, with reddish brown curls piled on her head and bright green eyes chirped as she entered the room and gestured for us to follow her down the hallway leading in the opposite direction I really wanted to go.    Alpha Jorrie of Silver Horizon   “I’m sorry, you aren’t allowed onto pack lands tonight, the Alpha said you are welcome to camp outside the gates or you could find a hotel to stay in.  He said to come back in the morning, and he’d consider an audience with each of you.”  The guard we’d been waiting in front of for over half an hour informed us, before turning his back on the small group crowded in front of him and heading back to his post beside the massive gates outside of Silent Silver pack’s territory.   “Damn, she’s my mate, I know it.”  Growled Alpha Taelin pushing a large, calloused hand through his auburn hair, his hazel eyes glowering at the guards as his Beta attempted to convince him to head to the nearest town for the night.   “Well I felt the pull as well.”  Muttered Alpha Scottie, his fingers continuing to pick apart the small twig in his hands as he’d done for the past half hour.    “As did I.”  I added, saying the first words since I had arrived, instead opting to let my Beta, Nelson, speak for me, my deep voice drawing the eyes of the other Alpha’s and their Beta’s present.  “We all felt the pull, as did apparently that weakling Knox, and the prince.  I don’t know about you two, but as prosperous as my pack is, I can’t compete with the Royal Pack… can you?”  Of course I did know they couldn’t compete with the Royal Pack anymore then I could.  I wouldn’t be doing my job as Alpha if I didn’t know the power and wealth of every other pack near my own.  It just so happened that both Alpha’s present had territories boarding my own.   “One girl mated to five sperate Alpha’s, and the people I spoke to before we left said the girl was an Omega and not even of age yet.”  Beta Silas added, he was Beta of River Red and here with his Alpha, Taelin.   “That girl is no Omega.”  Snorted Beta Connor, the youngest of us gathered at age 22, and Beta to Emerald Wood, Alpha Scottie’s pack.   “I’d have to agree with Connor.”  Added Nelson, my own Beta, a hunting knife twirling in his fingers as he eyed the other men present.  “I have seen many Omegas who could have risen above their stations if they wanted, but her?”  He chuckled, shaking his head and pointing the tip of his knife towards the high gates before us.  “She is no Omega.  If didn’t know any better, I’d say she is hiding an Alpha aura.”   “What are you, drunk?  Female Alpha’s don’t exist.  She may be Luna material seeing as how she is mated to multiple Alpha’s, but there is no way she is an Alpha herself.”  Scoffed Silas.   “Agreed with Silas on this one.”  An amused Taelin added, slapping his Beta on the back.  “Alpha females don’t exist.”   “And why do you say that?”  I asked him, my eyes raising to meet his in question.   “Because it just isn’t done.  Women are Luna’s, warriors if they can keep up, and Omega’s.  Not Alphas.”  Stated Taelin with a nod of his head as he crossed his arms over his chest.  The other men present were nodding along with him, except for me and Nelson.   “Multiple mates from several different packs ‘just isn’t done’ either, yet here we are, all outside of the gates to Silent Silver, waiting for our chance to try and convince our mate to choose us.  Tell me again why she can’t be an Alpha?”  I waited a moment while the other’s processed what I said and exchanged surprised looks, before my Beta and I made our way back to our cars.  “I’ll be going to another town for the night to rest, I suggest you do the same.  The Moon Goddess wouldn’t put this power in the hands of a teenage girl unless she knew she’d have the wisdom to handle it, she will not be choosing the first one who enters those gates.”   As I lay in bed that night thinking of her tall graceful beauty, onyx hair and gorgeous blue eyes, I silently admitted to myself that she was much to good for me… but that wouldn’t deter me, I was still going to shoot my shot and go down swinging
