Lily's POV
I stood there worriedly still thinking about Marcus. I wondered how much he had overheard from what I was telling Josephine.
"Excuse please, I have to take this call" Josephine said with a reassuring smile and left my side. I nodded without a word. What could I even say? I just desperately hoped that Marcus didn't hear what I said to her.
I was about to walk back to my station when I saw Marcus and unconsciously froze again.
“Lily,” he said pleasantly, already walking toward me. “Do you have a moment? I need clarification on something… procedural.”
My stomach dipped. “Of course,” I said, keeping my voice neutral as I stood. I could already feel the shift around us, people slowing their movements, pretending to be busy while listening just a little too carefully.
