24Vince was on-call for the weekend. His Saturday morning ward round took well over an hour, and he was already late when he fronted at the surgery. His first patient was Aisif Hamid. ‘G’day,’ Vince said as the boy limped in and took a seat. ‘When did you get home?’ ‘The surgeon doctor discharged me on Monday.’ He pointed to the bunged off IV line in his wrist. ‘The nurses have been coming to give the drugs and dress the leg.’ He handed over his hospital discharge summary and Vince read through it quickly.
