CHAPTER 20: First encounter. I wrap my arms around myself as I leave the party; the cold bites into my skin, and I didn’t bring a coat for this dress. I walk as fast as I can toward reception to get help calling a taxi, but then fluorescent lights catch my attention. A nightclub, I discover. I don’t know why, but something pulls me toward it.
