Chapter 8- Connected

1265 Words
(Nick Silver's POV) Rose and I were cuddled on the couch watching a little Netflix when we heard Quinton blaze through the living room and out the front door. I looked out to see the door open and my Son's silver wolf running for the trees. He mind linked our patrol for support and I looked surprised at Rose before I dashed through the door myself and followed him. He was headed to the border where our land met the ThunderRun land and was shooting out orders as we got there.  It appeared that they had been attacked by 50 plus rogues and were making a decent go of dissipating the rogues. They didn't even really need our help but it never hurt to help an ally.  I jumped into the fray and it wasn't long before I watched their large jet black Alpha tear into the last rogue. She fought well, I had heard that she was formidable and the reports were not wrong, she was a warrior.  She immediately shifted and I was surprised that such a large wolf was such a petite woman. I could see the giant gash on her leg and see the sadness in her eyes as she took in her wounded, and checked out the scene in front of her.  She immediately caught my gaze and walked over to shake hands and thank us for the support. I told her to thank Quinton, I was still trying to sort out how he even knew that they were under attack. The boundary of our patrol is farther inside our land, not right at the border, so I didn't think the patrol had heard and if they had, they would have told me.  I was surprised as instead of explaining himself Quinton growled at her and questioned what she was wearing. It wasn't until he mind linked our pack and told us to keep our eyes to our f*****g selves that I laughed and realized that my son had found his mate and must have felt her get injured.   I remembered that she wasn't 18 yet and wouldn't have any idea that he was her mate as she glanced at him quizzically and then went to get treated and deal with the uproar.  I appreciated her thoughts on their organization and agreed with her, this didn't seem like a regular rogue attack. As she walked away saying she thought there would be a next time, I heard my son growl one more time and laughed and threw my arm around his shoulders.  I mind linked him to tell him to calm down and to give his pack some praise for their immediate and strong response to his call of need.  As he walked over to lead, I looked around, watching the future of my pack and his mate. They were similar in how they talked to their soldiers and they had both fought strong and tough. I couldn't help being a little bit proud of both of them but also couldn't stop thinking about how the two of them were going to make this work. Two Alpha's with responsibilities to both their packs, it was unprecedented.  (Quinton's POV) I was sitting in the kitchen eating a snack and playing a game on my phone when I felt an insane pain in my leg. I looked down at my jeans in surprise, almost expecting to see blood and then I realized it wasn't my pain I was feeling. My wolf was using the connection between me and Kenzie and screaming MATE inside my head. I immediately took off, instinctively knowing where she was. I mind linked for support and when we got there I was outraged to see my mate bleeding but still fighting. I felt my Dad next to me and we helped to take out the rest of the rogues.  As she shifted and sauntered over to us I completely lost all brain power and felt like my tongue was hanging out. Her shorts were so short that I'm sure I could see the curve of her phenomenal ass cheeks and there sure as s**t wasn't a bra holding in those perky full breasts.  I growled as I realized that everyone else was getting the amazing view that I was. As a result instead of the many amazing things I could have said to her; about her leadership or her fighting ability, the first thing out of my mouth was "what the f**k are you wearing".  I saw her eyes blaze but couldn't bring myself to worry about it as I mind linked my pack to tell them to keep their eyes to themselves and then focused on what she was saying.  My Dad seemed to be aligned to her thinking and I knew we would be altering our patrol and upping our training as well. As she walked away and I caught the curve of her ass, I growled again before my Dad sent me to praise our men and come up with a plan for what our night would look like patrol wise.  I could still feel my leg throbbing with her pain and looked back, wishing that I could pick her up and carry her home but instead left her to lead. I sent a quick thanks up to the Moon Goddess that I had kissed her today, establishing our connection. The fact that I wouldn't have known about this otherwise, was not lost on me. I knew that I needed to build a relationship as soon as possible.  I was in awe of her and although we really didn't know each other yet, I couldn't help but be proud of her for how she handled the whole situation. I also found myself reconsidering my thoughts on Izzy. Although I had questioned that her Beta was a female, now that I had seen them fight together I was coming to realize that they were a force to be reckoned with and I was thankful that they were going to be on my side... I hoped anyway. Now  I just needed to somehow get her on board with being my other half. (Bonus POV-From the shadows ) I watched with delight as Kenzie's leg got slashed. It was just one more sign of how weak she was, I couldn't believe they were still allowing her to be their leader and couldn't wait to take her down. I was keeping a close eye on how the ThunderRun pack fought and strategizing for next time.  Evaluating and taking notes just as I had been taught, the only way to defeat your enemy was to know your enemy. They mostly worked back to back protecting each other's weak spots. As the Silver Run pack joined in, my insides boiled, why couldn’t they just stay in their own lane? It was unnatural how all the packs in our area didn't battle for more power. How could they be content with what they had. I was going to correct that, I had always known that I was meant to lead werewolves into a new age.  One where only the strongest of us would lead and be celebrated, no more of this alliance bull s**t. I watched for another moment, as our numbers dwindled. I felt nothing at the loss of my soldiers. The weakest were being killed off, just as they should be. As it became apparent that the attack was nearing its end, I took off, mentally adjusting our plan so that we would overthrow SilverLightening right after ThunderRun.
