Finding Out

•Arcs POV•

I open my eyes and close them quickly as a the bright light shines directly in them. My head is killing me. I go to lift my hand to rub by head when I realize that somebody is holding my hand. I turn my head and slowly open my eyes so the light dont blind me. Laying her head on the edge of my bed with her hand in mine is Kaley. I smile weakly as I gaze upon her. I take my other hand and rub my head noticing the bandage wrapped around it.

What the hell happened. I try to sit up and I must have been making too much movement because Kaley shoots upright then is suddenly on top of me. She is hugging me tightly. "Arc thank the goddess." She says. "How do you feel? Do you hurt anywhere? Do you remeber what happened?" She starts to spill out quickly and then she looks at me worried. "Oh my goddess answer me." She says. "I cant breath." I whisper and she jumps up. "Doctor. Doctor." She screams and I start to laugh.

She quickly looks back at me and glares. "What is so funny?" she asks. "You were on my chest. It was joke. Im fine." I say and she smacks my arm. The doctor comes rushing into the room with my mom on his heels. "Baby." She yells and runs to hug me. The doctor ushers her off of me and goes about checking all my vitals. Once hes done he looks down at me.

"Do you remember what happened to you?" he asks and I nod. "Yeah, there was a bear and it was gonna. " I glance and Kaley. I quickly recover from the memory. "It got the upper hand. But obviously alls good." I say and the doctor nods. "Your lucky your a vampire. That kind of attack would have killed anybody else. Your lucky Kaley was there. She sped up your healing quite substantially. Under any other circumstance you would be laying in this bed for weeks maybe months."

"How long have I been here?" I ask. "About five hours." He says. "Its remarkable. Get some rest. You can go home tomorrow." He says and then takes his leave. "Wow this vampire healing is amazing. Only five hours huh." I say quite impressed. "It would have been much longer if Kaley wasnt there." Mom says. "What do you mean?" I ask. "I think I'll give you two some time alone." She says and kisses my forehead and walks out.

"What is that all about?" I ask looking at Kaley. "Well, it's kind of a long story." She says. I throw my hands up amd look around. "Well, I think I have time. I dont think I'm going anywhere." I say making a joke and let's out a small laugh.

"Do you remember when dad was telling you about vampires a few years back? Do you remember what he said about mates?" She says nervously and my smile fades. "Do we have to do this now? I think I would rather be alone." I say. I dont want to hear about her mate. I dont think i can handle it coming from her. Her face falls but she quickly recovers.

"No. We need to do this now." She says and I raise my brow at her. She isnt usually so assertive. "Do you remember?" She asks again. "Yes I remember." I answer. "Do you remember what he said about the mate bond." She asks. "Yeah." I mumble upset with this conversation. "After the bear attack you were very injured. So I had no choice but to let you drink my blood." She says and now I'm confused.

I sit up straight. "Why would you do that to me? How long do I have? I cant believe you would do this." I say angry and she is taken aback. "What?" she asks. "Dont what me. You dad said that if a vampire drinks blood from somebody that is not their mate then they go feral. Why do you want that for me. What? You being happy with your mate isnt enough for you?" I yell.

Kaley looks hurt as she stands up. "I saved you, you i***t. You arent going feral. You are my mate moron." She yells back and me and now I'm shocked. "What?" I ask not believing what I just heard. "You are my mate." She says again. "No. I heard you the night of the coronation. You were telling Siri and Bella that you found your mate and you didnt knkw how to tell me." I say. "Exactly." She says. I think back to the conversation that I overheard so many years ago that changed our relationship. "You were talking about me?" I ask and she walks over and takes her seat again.

"Yes. It was always you." She says placing her hand in mine. And my heart is exploding right now. I am so happy. "Why didnt you every say anything?" I ask. "I was going to that night but when I came to you you started kissing some shewolf. And I couldnt do it. Watching you kiss her pained me." she says. "And then when I went home I couldnt think of anything but you. Why do you think we started coming to see you guys so often. I needed your scent to keep me calm. I wanted to tell you so many times. But everytime I came to disappeared. And I made up my mind that I was going to tell you today no matter what. So when I seen you running off I followed." She says.

I pull on her hand and pull her up to the bed and take her in my arms. I press my lips to hers. I am ecstatic right now. "This is all I ever wanted." I whisper as I break the kiss. "There is one other thing." She says looking nervous. "What?" I ask. "When you drank my blood it started the mating process." She says and I smile wide. She looks at me confused by my happiness. "What?" She asks.

"That just makes me very happy. I have to tell you that I have been in a bad spot. I thought you were mated to somebody else and it shattered my world. I love you Kaley." I say and a gear escapea her eye. She leans in and presses a gentle kiss to my lips.

"Well then you need to rest because when you get out of here we are gonna finish what I started." She says.
