Omega Life

I woke up in so much pain that I could barely move. I was lying on my stomach and could feel the scabs on my back. Tears ran down my cheeks as I remembered what happened last night. My tormentors found my escape money and kept it. I was trapped in this hell forever. The alarm on my clock went off, and it took a lot of effort for me to reach over and turn it off. I had to find the strength to get out of bed and trudge upstairs to start their breakfast. ‘I healed what I could overnight. I will try to take your pain too,’ Kaya sounded in my head. She sounded weary. ‘Are you alright, Kaya?’ I asked her. ‘I used a lot of my energy healing your wounds.’ She replied sadly. I screamed out as I tried moving my sore body. I managed to get to my feet and stumble to my sink to try and clean myself. I turned myself to try and see the wounds on my back. Uncle Dieter had hit me so hard that there were dozens of scabbed-over wounds on my back. I winced as I tried cleaning the wounds, but I could barely move my arms. I then cried, just putting clothes on. Slowly I made my way up the stairs, and Aunt Jean was sitting in the kitchen. “Look what finally dragged its lazy ass out of bed,” She sneered. “I need my morning coffee, and it's not made yet.” I wanted to tell her to make it herself. “Sorry, Aunt Jean,” I spoke with a raspy voice. I needed a glass of water. I turned on the coffee pot and then tried to drink water. Aunt Jean slapped the cup from my hand. “No water until our breakfast is made and on the table, you lazy wretch.” Sighing sadly, I poured coffee into a mug, put in the required amount of cream and sugar, and handed it to her. “Breakfast will be ready soon,” I mumbled and got to work. With great effort, I managed to prepare bacon, eggs, potatoes, and pancakes. I plated the food and set it on the table just as Uncle Dieter and my cousins walked in. Uncle Dieter grabbed my arm and glared into my eyes with hatred. “When you are done cleaning up, I need you to pack your bags. You are moving to the packhouse today.” He released me and spat in my face. “Finally, we are getting rid of the trash,” He said to my aunt while my cousins laughed. “But who will do my homework?” Brandy asked. “Trash will still be available,” Aunt Jean snarked. “Right, Trash? You have to earn money to pay us back, remember?” She cackled. I tried not to let their words affect me. I hobbled back into the kitchen to start cleaning. I snuck some water and then went downstairs to pack my meager possessions. When I was done, I went back upstairs to wash the breakfast dishes. “Are you ready?” Aunt Jean asked, and I nodded. I followed her out of the kitchen and outside to where Uncle Dieter was waiting in his truck. “Get in the back,” She pointed With great effort and pain, I climbed into the back of the truck, and Uncle Dieter took off before I could sit, sending me flying into the hard bed. I tried sitting up, but he was driving fast. Eventually, I managed to sit up and clung to the side with dear life. He stopped in front of the packhouse, and I painfully climbed out. “Hurry up, Trash,” He yelled. “I don’t have all day.” I got out of the truck and followed them to the door where Alpha Dean and Luna Kendra were waiting. They had the same look of contempt as always. I stood in front of them with my head down. My shoes were suddenly very interesting. “We’ll take her from here, Dieter,” Alpha Dean said to my uncle. “Good riddance,” My Aunt said before walking away. Luna Kendra snapped her fingers, and an older omega walked out of the house. “Alice take her to the kitchens and show her how things work and show her a room,” Luna Kendra spoke kindly to the omega. “Yes, Luna,” Alice replied. “Come on, girl.” She reached out to touch my arm, and I flinched. “I won’t hurt you.” I let her lightly touch my arm and guide me into the packhouse. The scent of freshly washed cotton hung in the air. I had only been in the packhouse a few times. I don’t remember it smelling like cotton. Alice led me through the house and down to the basement. “This is where our rooms are. You will be sharing a room with another young lady named Judy.” She said and knocked on a door before opening it. My jaw dropped. The room was huge to me. It had two double beds and a sitting area with a TV. There was also a full bathroom in the room. A young blonde girl was sitting on a bed brushing her hair. She smiled as I walked in with Alice. “Judy, this is-“ She looked at me. “Darcy,” I answered. “Darcy, she is your new roommate.” Alice introduced us. Judy walked towards me and held out her hand. “Nice to meet you, Darcy.” I shook her hand. “Same,” I replied. Alice pointed to the empty bed. “Set your stuff down and-“ She wrinkled her nose. “Take a shower, then Judy will show you to the kitchen. There we will get you started.” She patted my arm and walked out of the room. I put my meager possessions on the bed and sat down. I already felt better in this environment. I may be an omega, but I was being treated better than at home. “How long have you been in the pack?” Judy asked. “All of my life,” I told her. “I have only been here about a year. Alpha Dean rescued me and several others from a pack that rogues wiped out. He is nice and kind.” I snorted. “Really? Could have fooled me,” I covered my mouth as that came out more bitter than I intended.” Judy frowned. “Sorry, I just have been having a bad week,” I told her. “I’ll take my shower now. I don’t have any soap or anything.” “Feel free to use mine. We’ll get you some of your own later.” Judy responded. I walked into the bathroom and couldn’t believe I was allowed to shower. I stood under the hot water for a long time even though it burned my wounds. I watched as blood spilled into the tub. I washed my hair for the first time in forever and washed my body. I didn’t’ want to leave, but I got out of the shower and put on my worn-out jeans and a white t-shirt. I didn’t have a brush, so I used my fingers on my hair. Then Judy led me out of the room up to the kitchen. Buddy’s mom Lydia walked up to me with her arms out. “Hi Darcy,” She hugged me, and I winced. “Oh, I am sorry. What happened?” I shook my head. “I was bad,” I told her. Lydia sighed heavily. “You are never bad, Darcy.” She clasped my hand and pulled me to a table, and pointed to a gift bag. “Happy Birthday. It's not much but-“ Tears welled up in my eyes as I hugged her. She and Buddy were the only ones that ever gave me anything for my birthday. “I don’t know what to say,” I said to Lydia. “Open it,” She clapped her hands as Alice and Judy walked up. I pulled tissue paper out and found a strawberry-scented bath set with shampoo, body wash, and lotion. There was also a sparkly hairbrush. I pulled out a small box and opened it to find a necklace and earrings. “They were just some things I picked up at the dollar store,” Lydia shrugged. I hugged her tight. “Thank you.” “Come on, girl, get you some breakfast before work,” Alice spoke up. I gave her a strange look. “We get to eat breakfast?” She laughed dryly. “Yes, of course. Do you think the Alpha and Luna starve us?” “Gamma Dieter starves me. I thought it was normal.” I said to her. Alice gave Lydia a hard look and then looked at me. “I never liked that son of a bitch.” She made me sit at the table and then put a plate of bacon, eggs, and potatoes in front of me with a glass of milk. I ate the food entirely too fast and got a little sick. "Sorry, I ate like a pig,” I said with my hand over my mouth. “We don’t blame you, dear. Now today is going to be hectic getting ready for little alpha’s party.” Alice explained. “But I understand you are injured.” “How did you know?” I asked her. “It's how you are moving,” Alice replied. “I was whipped last night,” I confessed and watched Alice frown and sigh with anger. “I’ll do my best to keep it easy for you,” Alice said. After I ate, I started the dishes with help from Judy. The two of us got along great, and it felt nice to have a new friend. Later I followed her to the dining room to clean and dust while other omegas set up for the party. My friend Buddy was helping with moving stuff in. He walked over to me and hugged me. “Happy Birthday,” He kissed my cheek. “Thanks, Buddy,” I said as he handed me a small box. “What’s this?” He shrugged. “Nothing,” He winked and walked away. I opened the box to find a simple charm bracelet with little animal charms, including a fox. I smiled to myself as Judy looked over. “I think he likes you.” She said. “Buddy? He is just my best friend in the world.” I told her. “We have been best friends since we were kids.” Judy smiled. “Just friends?” “Yes, why?” I chuckled as we got back to washing the windows. “I sort of like him. Like, you know, like him,” She giggled. “Aren’t you old enough to find your mate?” I asked her. She sighed. “I don’t have a wolf, so I’ll never know if I meet my mate. You know how it is for omegas.” “Well, then Buddy is a great guy,” I told her. “You don’t think I am too old, do you. I just turned twenty.” Judy responded. “Buddy is eighteen, so no.” I laughed. Judy leaned into me. “You don’t have a wolf either, but you have something.” I nodded to her. I wasn’t ready to tell her about my fox. “You are right,” I smiled at her as the scent of freshly washed cotton suddenly got stronger. Kaya paced in my head and whined. I turned to see Felix standing in the doorway of the dining room. He looked at me dead on and marched straight for me. I gulped as Kaya became frantic. I dropped my sponge and backed away as the future alpha stalked towards me. The others in the room all froze as I stared at Felix. He grabbed my hand and silently pulled me out of the dining room. He dragged me through the house and then shoved me into a dark room. He pushed me against a wall, and pain from my back wounds radiated through my body, and I cried out. Felix kissed me roughly, and the tingles from the kiss relieved my pain. I gripped his arms as he kissed down my neck and back up to my lips. “Mate,” He whispered in my ear. “Mate,” I said out of my mouth. ‘What?’ ‘He is our mate,’ Kaya responded sadly. ‘Is that why you have been acting weird?’ I asked her. She didn’t say anything as Felix ran his hand down my cheek. The tingles from the touch made me moan with pleasure. “I don’t want you. But I need you. Trash like you can never be Luna. But I need you,” he kissed me again. “I, Felix Garfield Mason, reject you, Darcy Rhodes as my mate and luna,” He said to me. For some reason, pain did not radiate through my body though I felt Kaya’s sorrow at being rejected. ‘Accept it.’ Kaya told me. ‘What?’ ‘Accept the rejection,’ she told me. “I, Darcy Michelle Rhodes, accept your rejection,” I said to Felix, and he cried out and doubled over in pain. I still felt nothing. ‘Why aren’t I feeling any pain?’ ‘Because I am taking the brunt of it. You have had too much pain already,’ Kaya replied. I stared at Felix as he cried on the ground. He finally stood up and grabbed my chin hard. Tears ran down his cheeks. “Why aren’t you in pain?” He asked, and I shrugged. “You better not tell anyone about this. You will be my dirty little secret.” He kissed me hard. “And just because I rejected you doesn’t mean you are free to be with other men. You are still mine!” He released me and walked out of the darkroom. I panted for a second before stumbling back to the dining room. My heart raced as I went to where Judy was. She and the other omegas just stared at me but said nothing. I sniffled. “Are we done with the windows?” I asked her.
