18 Dusk was bathing the city of Karpella in a rosy pink glow, and after the deprivations of the siege, the city and its surroundings were mercifully quiet, but Karpella was still under siege. It had been three days since the Sharisian Army had withdrawn, followed by the Joint Kingdom’s Army of the North with the majority of the city’s garrison going with them as reinforcements. The uncertainty of what was happening beyond the walls to the south had become a menace on the minds of Karpella’s multitude of inhabitants far more insidious than the physical soldiers of Sharisar had been.
