“Okay, Mom.”
Char Siu scuffed her slippahs down the lawn and out into the street.
“This was a good day!” she said.
Kahana and Amy stood in the driveway, listening to the squeals and shrieks coming from the backyard as cold water washed the mud from Zader’s body.
A first, Kahana thought. Wonder how many more are coming?
Leaning against the hood of his car in the darkness, Kahana waited. Instead of jumping in the car when the boys went to the backyard, ‘Ilima jogged up the stairs and curled up on the lanai, making a point of ignoring Kahana.
