Chapter 15

1566 Words
It was at this dinner that I was really started to wonder if I was starting to go into my rut. I tried to hide it as best as I could. But now I had three females around me. And it was driving me crazy. Even if one was quite young her scent was driving me mad. My earlier outburst with Umberto also was evident of me possibly going through a rut. He was the only real threat as another male in the group. Walker was no threat, he was still a boy after all, he also was too enamored with Tanya, obviously. I was trying to distract myself somehow. “So why has no one been in this Cathedral of Saint Damus?” I asked. “It is sealed off,” Umberto said. “Sealed off how?” I asked. “Well if you look at it, it completely sealed off. No doors, no windows, no way into it all.” Umberto said. “The only thing really on it are these weird glyphs on the front of it,” Tanya suddenly added. She took another bite of her dinner as if she hadn’t said anything. “Glyphs?” Walker asked. “No one knows what they mean,” Umberto said. “They look almost like Runes or something, nobody knows what they are really nor what they signify.” Walker and I looked at each other we wondered if this cathedral was sealed similarly like the Temple of Damus back on Rho. If that was the case, then the remaining Labors of Damus must be here on this planet. “I wonder what’s in there,” Walker suddenly said. “Who knows,” Umberto said. “Saint Damus was such a curious character as he was,” Sammie said. “How so?” I asked mostly to distract myself further. “Legend says he was the security officer of this legendary group called the soldiers of light.” Sammie said. Walker and I looked at each other again. We knew that much already. “Why are you suddenly interested in that ancient Cathedral?” Umberto said. “Because we ran into a temple of Damus back on Rho,” I said. “It had these statues, and…they were interesting to say anything about that at all.” Walker added. “And it is how we got here,” I added. “What do you mean how you got here?” Umberto asked. “We came from Rho before we arrived here,” Walker added. “As in the moon Rho?” Umberto said and we both nodded. “But that is clear across the cosmos from here.” “We know that,” I said. “And I am dreading how much time could have passed since we were thrown here like that.” “What do you mean?” Umberto said. “Last time I was transported, what I thought was instantly to another world, it turned out to have been 40 years later.” I said. “You were transported to Rho?” Umberto said, and I nodded. “Then where were you from originally?” “I’ve heard my star be called Sirius,” I said. “Sirius?!” Umberto said. “That is far away from here,” Sammie added. “So, I’ve heard.” I sighed. “But how far away are we talking about?” “There is, at least 4 constellations between here and there.” Umberto said. “And each expand several hundreds of light years across.” Sammie added. “Which means?” I asked. “You are quite the ways away from home, my friend.” Umberto said. “How exactly did you get to Rho from Sirius?” “Well, that’s where things start to get interesting,” I said. I explained to Umberto pretty much everything that had happened up to that point. It was more to distract myself away from the potentiality of getting into a rut than telling the story again. I told him about Kyzlbrahma, and the tribes of the Bel’hatore Forest, and the invasion of the Lizard things led by that creature with the slit glasses. “So that is why you asked about that,” Umberto said, and I nodded. I then continued my tale, I left out the fact I had the medallion, mostly out of fear that anyone would want to see the damn thing and I did not want to pull the cursed thing out of my satchel. However, I continued to tell the story I continued by saying about how Hanuman had appeared after the invasion and I had appeared on Rho. I explained my first year on Rho and how I survived on my own. I then continued with the story, I told him about meeting Walker that faithful day and how he had ran away from his crazy older brothers, how we had traveled across Rho to find the Temple of Damus and unseal it. “So, you think that there are similar seals for this Cathedral?” Umberto said. “We kind of almost guarantee that,” I said. “But I never seen something like that before.” Umberto said. “At least not those clock towers that you described.” “We don’t even know if they are going to be clock towers,” Walker pointed out. “So really it could be anything.” “That should be something we look into later,” Umberto said. “He’s right,” Sammie said. “We have more pressing matters to go over.” “Our target is still finding Norman Hunraken,” I nodded. “And whoever is behind him,” Walker added. That thing that Hanuman had said, about Hunraken not being smart enough to pull something off like this was very foreboding. From what I had collected about this creep, he was insanely smart, he had pulled off that fake invasion, and experimented with people adding god knows what abilities to people and creating things like Eugene, and yet he was not smart enough to pull something like this off? It was then that I realized, what exactly was being pulled off? “What do you think is going on exactly?” I asked. “I don’t know,” Sammie said suddenly. “This does seem like it is a much a bigger end game, and that terrifies me. The fact that they are looking for other power sources, a young female, and had sent Xavier to as you put it to snuff out someone named the sun eater. This sounds like some very elaborate planning that is happening.” “Simply put then,” I said. “We are not dealing with a planetary problem anymore we are dealing with a galactic problem.” “Somebody capable of threatening an entire galaxy?” Umberto said. “What kind of villain are we talking about?” “That is what we need to find out I guess,” I said. “So, do you know where we should start? Where is your friend Theresa?” “She would be our best bet,” Sammie said. “Where is she?” Umberto asked. “I can only tell you the last place I knew she was at,” Sammie said. Sammie explained that outside of this city on this hill was a small village that was called Sethena. It was a few hours away and this apparently was the last known place that Theresa had been hiding out at. After dinner Tanya had decided to stick around but bid farewell to Rana. Rana headed back to her home. Walker was ecstatic that Tanya had decided to stay with the group. It was obvious, it was almost like he had hearts floating around his mind. Sethena apparently was just inside of a second set of giant black gates like the ones we came through back in the city of the males. So essentially there was only three things inside of these gates. That surprised me a bit. Considering how big the valley and everything seemed as we came up to this hill, I thought it was a lot bigger than that. “You call this place a town?” Walker said as we entered Sethena a short while later. “I would call it a tone,” I said. Sethena was not as large and extravagant as any I had seen. No, this place reminded me of the Bel’hatore Forest. There were only a handful of buildings that were inside this town. It was small, though it still seemed a bit busy. We looked around and everything seemed okay. There was nothing that was really off. “Well, nothing weird so far,” Umberto said. On the way over here, we were debating if there was going to be something weird once we got here. After all these Storm Bringers had frozen an entire city just for literal giggles. To see this town intact was very relieving for the whole lot of us. “So, Sammie any idea where your friend might be?” I asked. Sammie looked around as if she was scanning around. I realized she must have had that stupid implant in her eye like Walker did. She was after all a Fakir Female, I was starting to think with stuff that I should expect with certain people and certain races. “Knowing Theresa, she will be the least likely spot of the most likely area.” Sammie said as she still looked around. “What the hell does that mean?” I asked. “Sometimes it is easier to hide right under someone’s nose.” Sammie said. “Can’t you use your enhanced senses to find her?” Walker said. “Oh…oh right.” I said. Truthfully, I had not thought of that. “But I don’t know what she smells like,” I said remembering why I had not thought of that before. “How did you find Rana without knowing what she smelled like?” Walker asked. “Oh…because you were looking for scents similar to Tanya?” “Yes,” I said. “Then why don’t you use my scent?” Sammie asked. “We were constructed in a similar manner she should smell similar to me.” I cursed myself and I cursed Walker. I knew that there was a chance that Sammie’s scent would lead me to Theresa. But I was still on edge. I had this real realization that I was about to get through my rut, and intaking female scents would probably drive me wild. So far I was doing okay if I did say so myself. “Very well,” I said.
