Alison’s POV As I watched Kane move inside the penthouse’s kitchen, it was as if nothing had changed. It was the same energy, the same attentiveness. He knew what I wanted before I even asked him. “Are you making my favorite ribs?” I asked as I sat on a stool to watch him. ‘What else if not?” He replied. His sleeves were pulled up, and he stirred the contents of the pan with efficiency. I grabbed the lemonade he had served me with both hands. He convinced me to stay, although I didn’t want to. It was difficult to lie to him; he knew me better than anyone. In record time, Kane had an arrangement of dishes; all were my favorites.
