Aria's Point Of View
It's been three days since Walters walked out on me, and he hasn't reached out yet.
A thousand times, I called his phone, but he wasn't responding. And my texts? They were left unread.
It got to a point where he blocked me from all social media handles.
What a way to break up with me. He could have said a word.
This was the time I needed him the most. At my lowest!
To think that I was bragging about him to my dad the previous day.
I was ready to take a bullet for Walters because I thought we'd grow old together.
Now he's gone.
Gone for good.
Leaving me all alone in this world.
I spent the last few minutes pacing around my room like a lost hen. I can barely think to save my life.
I required a companion more than ever. Too bad I am not getting any. It just dawned on me that it's me against the world.
“Sofia,” I mutter.
She's my best friend.
She was the first person who came to my mind when I needed closure." I really need to go see her,” I say to myself.
I grab my phone to call Sofia. It turns out that she's been trying to reach me over the last few minutes.
I scrolled through my phone and discovered it was on silent mode.
“I apologize for that, Sofia. Are you home? Want to stop by?" I apologize before making a request.
I needed to be certain she was home before embarking on a fruitless journey.
At this point in my life, the last thing I require is disappointment.
“Sure!” Sofia responded. I ended the phone conversation knowing that Sofia might want to start asking questions.
I got dressed in a decent outfit. I couldn't possibly step outside looking like a mess. I apply light makeup on my face to conceal my sorrow a bit.
On the verge of stepping outside, a voice called me back. "Where are you heading to?”
I turned around. It's my father.
I sighed, “Not now, Dad. I don't want to do this with you. Just let me go."
My voice is gradually fading off. I may as well need to undergo throat surgery to repair my vocal cords.
“You haven't answered my question,” he flared up. “I do hope you are not heading to Walter's."
"No, Dad.
I want to go see Sofia. Happy now?” I answered just in time to clear the air.
My father approved my exit with some advice. I shunned his advice. It's more like he wasn't saying a word.
Revenge!
That's the only word ruminating in my head right now.
Every other thing is s**t to me. Meant absolutely nothing.
“Are you stupid?”
Sofia yelled at me when she heard about my quest to avenge my brother's death.
Much anticipated.
Sofia is always chicken-hearted.
Do I expect her to take sides with me? Of course not.
Rather, she'd want to convince me to quit. And that's something I don't want to do.
That was the same way Walters reacted when he found out about my plan.
Just like my dad, Sofia isn't a fan of Walters. Else, I'd have been forced to believe that she already found out first from Walters.
“Come on, Sofia.
Don't give me that look,” I shrugged off and sauntered to the mini bar to pour myself a drink.
She rushed in front of me and pulled the glass away. “No way you're getting drunk. We are not done yet."
“You need to stop this madness now,” she yelled at me as though I was her kid sister.
Still, my response stands: “Ain't no way I'm taking your advice, girl."
She threatened to report me to the cops should I proceed with my plan.
I giggled, got closer to her, and said, “Be my guest,” before my exit.
“Consider this friendship over,” she yelled from afar.
Another threat from my circle? She does remind me of Walters.
I was less bothered by her threat. I knew damn well she meant none of it.
Sofia wouldn't dare trade our twenty years of friendship for anything in the world.
I arrived home with a bleeding heart. I got bored.
I felt alone, rejected, and neglected by everyone and anyone who mattered.
In a bid to create my happiness, I surfed the internet.
Boom!
I found an important piece of information that could be vital to my mission.
The event is scheduled for tonight. The Gala Awards Night. Guess who'd be in attendance? Dante Marino, my target.
I smile.
I haven't smiled in a long time since I lost my brothers.
“It's about time,” I lick my lips. Finally, a good strategy to get closer to Dante.
Out of excitement, I told my father about it.
It wasn't my intention. However, I needed some sort of advice.
And it worked!
My dad and I draft out a perfect plan to gain access to Dante's life.
With my beauty, he certainly can't resist me.
It wasn't difficult for me to locate the venue. Just as I predicted, the atmosphere is stunning.
Now I know why Dante is a special guest for the occasion.
I haven't witnessed anything like that before. To me, it seemed more like paradise in heaven.
I spot the security from a distance. They serve as a barricade to the main hall.
I adjusted my outfit and flaunted my cleavage. I considered my cleavage as my invitation card since I wasn't invited.
I was on the verge of gaining full access to the hall when one of the security guards bounced me back.
I thought of falling deaf to his voice and just proceeding to my mission.
On second thought, I considered the embarrassment I would bring upon myself should that happen.
Gradually, I take a few steps backwards to the security.
“Hey! Great job y'all got,” I forced a smile on my face to buy myself more time.
“Your invite,” one of them stretches his hand forward.
Plan A is ruined.
Plan B activated!
I try to seduce the security to gain access.
It failed!
I just made a fool of myself.
They threatened to beat me to a pulp should I continue acting like a dummy.
The resilience inside of me refuses to back down.
I struggle back and forth with them.
Suddenly, Dante showed up with his guards. I had my hope restored once again.
I did everything I could to ensure he noticed my presence, but it wasn't working. He just walked inside without paying attention to me.
It's as though I don't even exist. The rejection hurt.
It pierced my heart like a dagger.
I should have considered it while embarking on a mission.
With the level of bodyguards at Dante's disposal, I may need a miracle to get past him, let alone hurt him.
I drove back home with a broken heart. My dad is seated in the living room.
“Good evening, Dad.”
I greet my dad while heading for my room. I didn't want to look at his face.
“How did it go?”
His voice halted my movement. I thought he'd never ask.
Slowly, I returned to him and spoke in a soft tone, "I'm done with this s**t, Dad. I don't want to be a part of this madness anymore."
He chuckled even when I expected him to be mad at me.
“How about I purchase a gun and shoot him dead?”
I suggested.
I didn't even know what else to say anymore.
“Hell no,” my dad rubbished the idea. "You're going to get caught, and trust me, you aren't getting past his guard."
“I have a plan!" he snapped."Really?
Spill!” I beg him.
He leaned forward and whispered the plans in my ear. I lost the energy to question his suggestion. Blame it on my desperation to do anything.
The next morning, I woke up feeling refreshed. The day promises new hopes and aspirations.
The day I finally hope to get it right.
I drove straight to the hotel where Dante lodged.
It was all my father's idea. While I was out there struggling to get past the security, my father was busy with his background check.
I parked my car outside the hotel premises and stepped outside, dressed in my joggers.
I ensured my bodysuit was tight enough to reveal my elegant body. Perhaps Dante will be drawn by its sexiness.
Twenty minutes have gone by, and Dante is nowhere to be found.
The little confidence left inside of me is gradually fading away like the evening sun.
Suddenly, I hear a car approaching me at full speed. It stopped right in front of me.
Behold, three masked men approach me with a gun. They pointed it at my forehead while muttering the words, "Release your car keys and all the valuables."
I can't breathe. I can't scream.
Should I scream for help, I may be long dead before someone comes to my rescue.
Scared to death, I handed everything to the thugs as I watched them zoom off.
I'm doomed!
Mission gone wrong.
I should have listened to Sofia.
